Rode VideoMic NTG Camera Shotgun Mic Review / Test
Today I review the Rode VideoMic NTG Camera-mount Shotgun Mic. This is a camera top shotgun microphone, but also a USB Shotgun Microphone. This is the first shotgun mic that I’ve seen that has this functionality. All in all it’s a very full featured option, and I think the new gold standard in this department.

Today I review the best budget interface I have tested up through today; the Behringer UMC22. I also provide a fix/solution to audio coming out of one speaker / headphone. If you’re on a tight budget and only need a single XLR input, I absolutely recommend this thing.

NEW RANKING: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuLABU6tI7Q
WARNING: I no longer recommend using a USB soundcard to connect a microphone to your computer. It has become too unreliable due to manufacturers altering the components used in their products as well as alterations to operating systems causing additional problems. The only method of connecting a microphone to your computer that I recommend is with a USB AUDIO INTERFACE that is designed specifically for that use case.

Today I review the Neumann KMS105, one of the best live stage microphones you can buy. This is a super cardioid condenser microphone that extends from 20Hz - 20khz, and provides a very detailed and clear sound while maintaining a smooth and pleasing tone. It also does a admirable job at plosive rejection and handling noise rejection. I also include a comparison to the Audio Technica AT2010, Rode M2, and Shure Beta87a.

Today I review a very versatile small diaphragm condenser that would be a great beginner option. The LCT 140 is relatively affordable, has a built in pad, high pass, and high shelf. The downside is the build quality leaves a bit to be desired and it has a 20dBA self noise, so if you’re recording quiet sound sources, you may need to take that into account.

Today I review an awesome $80 handheld dynamic microphone that rivals the Sennheiser E835. This mic has a more pleasing treble and air boost, and a high pass around $200 hz to tame a bit of the proximity effect. It does suffer from handling noise and plosive rejection, but for $80, it’s a stellar deal.

Software Walkthrough: https://youtu.be/kbxzApR0_gg
Today I walkthrough, explain, test and review the new Lewitt audio interface which has DSP processing, I compare it to the Focusrite 18i20, I test the SM7b on this interface, play instruments on the D.I. inputs and walk through all the processing.
Note1: The GUI in the software is not choppy like that in use. It is only choppy like that in the demo because my computer is old and struggles with screen recording.
Note2: The mobile connection does not have an automatic mix minus, in order to achieve this you would need to send mix A or B to the mobile output, and then shut off the mobile input audio for that mix. This will eliminate any loopback to the mobile device.
