Trisquel Linux is one of the few which have been certified by the Free Software Foundation as a free and open source distro. It is a Linux distribution which is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, and can be installed either with an .iso file or, you can replace an existing Ubuntu install by simply running a shell script which is supplied on the Trisquel website. The Desktop Environment is Mate 1.26 and come with a smattering of popular linux applications, you can install it with options to encrypt your boot disk or not. Linux Mint is derived from Ubuntu 22.04, but LM follows its own path, and is not always so eagar to blindly follow in the footsteps that Canonical leaves.
