The notion of a semi-globe with no bottom half is odd, illogical, and counter-intuitive. Ancient peoples universally imagined to sky to be a full globe, the celestial sphere, not a dome-like covering. Likewise, they imagined the celestial bodies including the earth to be round, spherical, not disk-like.
