I picked up a four pack of this pastry stout while in Youngstown for a conference a week or so ago. This one comes in at 5.8% ABV with 27 IBUs. It poured a cloudy, milk chocolatey brown color with a solid tan head with some fish eye bubbles. This was medium/light bodied and had a pleasant aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and some cinnamon. The taste followed the nose for the most part, with roasted dark chocolate giving way to a sweeter chocolate and vanilla taste and some residual cinnamon. Overall, this was a tasty dessert stout and I would certainly have another. Special shoutout to the staff at Penguin City, who were accommodating, charming and most importantly knew their products well.

I picked up a single can of CBCs Festbier as part of a mixed sixer. This one comes in at 5.3% ABV with 22 IBUs.This poured a clear, caramel color with ample carbonation and a nice frothy two-finger white head. The nose was subtle with light bready malt and faint aroma of hops. This was medium/light bodied and quite crushable. Roasted malt and caramel lead the way and this has a nice light hop finish. Overall a really nice brew that I would gladly try again!

I picked up a six pack of this Voodoo Ranger release at the request of my good friend Steve Patzer. This Fruit Punch IPA is brewed with 7 different hops and comes in at 9.5% ABV with 20 IBUs. This poured a murky golden straw color, with tons of visible carbonation and a tons of sediment. The head on this was magnificent with two fingers plus of smooth, creamy, white head. The nose was not surprisingly fruit punch. No discernable fruits, more like generic fruit punch, and not much else. The body on this was quite nice, medium/full and smooth. The taste pretty much followed the nose. You got a tiny bit of malt, but mostly generic fruit punch flavor with a bit of a bitter/hoppy finish. If New Belgium set out to make beer taste like fruit punch, they succeeded.

I picked this up for $12.99 at my local beer shop. This barrel aged imperial russian imperial stout. This one comes in at 8.8% and poured an opaque, jet black color, with a beautiful brown head. The nose was chocolate and black licorice. The body was surprisingly light for a stout. I would say it is medium, but we both expected something fuller. As to flavor, we picked up roasty malt, some chocolate, black licorice and some decent bitterness at the end. Overall, this was ok, but at almost $13 a bottle, not worth the price. We hope to see some other offerings from Brehon soon!

I picked up a six pack of this light ale brewed in collaboration with Bowling Green State University while in BG. This tailgate brew comes in at 4.9% ABV with 13 IBUs. This poured a light straw color with a beautiful, pillowy, white head. This was fairly cloudy, but you could see some fine, champagne like bubbles. The nose was floral and surprisingly appealing for a light beer. The body was also a little fuller than expected, and we agreed it had a nice medium body. Taste wise this was almost like a toned down Sierra Nevada pale ale. You got light malt, some floral hops, and a nice finish. This was sessionable, but flavorful and we both loved it.

Today is my birthday and the 3rd Anniversary of the channel. As I am in Peja, Kosovo teaching a summer class at Haxhi Zeka University, it is only fitting that I review a beer made in this city, Peja Pilsner. This is a beer I have had before over the years while in Kosovo, but I have never reviewed it, so it is new to the channel. This pilsner comes in at 4.2% ABV and poured a light golden color with a nice white frothy head and moderate carbonation. The nose on this was nondescript, with light bready malt and a hint of grassiness. This was medium bodied, with some bready sweetness hitting you initially, which eventually gives wayward to a rye-like bitterness. I think the sweetness balanced well against the bitterness and that this was a solid beer, especially on a warm summer day. All things considered, I give this. a thumbs up and will certainly have another (probably in 15 minutes or so...)

This beer was sent to me by Shane from Shane's Craft Beer Reviews. This gingerbread stout comes in at 5.6% ABV and poured a beautiful dark, cola brown color with a luxurious, frothy tan head. The nose on this was subtle. You got the gingerbread smell, ginger, cinnamon, & all spice. but it wasn't so overpowering it put you off. This was on the lower end of medium bodied, which was a bit of a surprise, as I expected a fuller dessert stout. Up front I got ginger and cinnamon, then molasses, then a kind of bitter finish. I didn't get the vanilla, but for the most part this was solid and i would have another.

I picked up a bottle of this in an online order from Half TIme Beverage. This light lager comes in at 4.2% ABV and poured a crystal clear pale straw color with a fleeting, thin white head. The nose was adjunct cereal grain, but was not offensive. This was watery and thin bodied, probably perfect for a warm day, but other than that, it was unappealing. There is nothing I can say about this beer that had not been said about Taylor Swift...it is thin, pale, and overrated. I gave it a thumbs down, but the Ginger Yeti liked it and gave it a thumbs up.

Anderson and I decided to do a video on one of our pregame beers, Peach Wheat from DESTIHL. This one comes in at 5.2% ABV and poured a cloudy, light golden color, with moderate carbonation. This one gave off a BIG peach whiff when opened and reminded me of a peach soda. This was medium/light bodied with peach leading the way, followed by some bready malt, which lead to a nice sweet/tart balance. The peach was much more subtle in the beer than it was on the nose. Anderson also noticed a bit of a carbon dioxide note. All things considered, this is a great summer beer and we both agreed we would have another.
