I've been learning how to play Megadeth's track, My last words. The solo and intro mainly because the main body riffs are pretty easy. Since picking up the guitar again in January after a 3 decade break from having regular practice. A few spells of a few weeks in that time I did try to get into guitar again, but none lasted long enough to learn anything or to get any better than I was in 1994. |However, I haven't stopped thinking about playing in that entire time. You can learn a lot from thinking. ;)
As you may notice from previous videos that my guitar is slightly flat of tune to the bass and drum track that I found. I continued anyway because that adds to the style of mustaine, he often sounds a 'microfraction flat' and gives a growly feel. That is half the battle with a Megadeth song from that era, you gotta hear where Dave is coming from and the energy in there. many of the notes in solos are flooks when shifting from one position to another to keep in time and hitting a stray, perfect enhancing note by accident along the way.
I played most of the riffs and solos from the peace sells album, in a ramdash fashion, back in the day. My last words is the one that just seemed too far fetched for me to even try to learn. Now, here we are 30 years later.
