7 Technicians Every Thai Boxer Should Study | Muay Thai
Some of the best "muay fimeu" or "muay classic" style fighters, or as I like to call them, "technicians" or technical fighters.
A technician is a master of all weapons. He is slick, stylish, adaptable, and can win a fight in many different ways, depending on the intentions and style of his opponent.
His movement is well-balanced and graceful in execution. He possesses a great muay Thai brain and razor-sharp vision which keeps him one step ahead of his opponent.
Above all else, he has a supreme confidence in everything he does in the ring.
This list features the following fighters:
Chatchai Paiseetong
Namkabuan Nongkeepahuyuth
Saenchai
Hippy Singmanee
Boonlai Sor Thanikul
Samart Payakaroon
Karuhat Sor Supawan
This is not an exhaustive list! It is by no means my top 7 although that's the way it seems to have been received. While these fighters are certainly some of the best ever, there are several more names that should be included in a comprehensive list. I'll try to make another video to go along with this shortly.

Muay Thai highlight of golden era legend Kaensak Sor Ploenjit.
Kaensak was one of the greatest muay tae fighters (kickers) of all time. He was an extremely technical counter-fighter and a well-rounded fighter in general; this enabled him to adapt his style for any opponent and still land that brutal body kick. His fights against Lamnamoon Sor Sumalee where he demonstrated his incredible clinch defence to shut down the lanky clinch-fighter are legendary.
Kaensak won the Lumpinee stadium title at two different weight classes and also won the Fighter of the Year Award twice in a row in 1989 and 1990.

Muay Thai highlight of golden era legend Jongsanan Fairtex.
Jongsanan was a stylish fighter who won Lumpinee titles on two occasions during the 1990s. As well as having great hands with immense KO power, Jongsanan was excellent in the clinch and was a master of the sweep.
Jongsanan's 5th fight with rival Sakmongkol is one of the most revered fights in history and became known as "The Elbow Fight" as both fighters stood and traded for an entire round.

Must Thai highlight of the legendary Thai fighter Sagat Petchyindee (Sakad Pontawee สกัด พรทวี),
Sagat or 'Sakad' is a legendary knockout artist who fought during the 1970s and 1980s in Thailand. He won three Lumpinee titles and three Rajadamnern titles during an incredible career that saw him KO his opponent on no less than 151 occasions. Sagat is also said to be the inspiration behind the Street Fighter game character that emerged on the Sega Mega Drive in the early 1990s.
Sagat's victories include wins over Kitty Sor Thanikul, Nongkhai Sor Prapatsorn, Wangwanloup Maturee, Krontee Sor Sonalan, Samart Prasanmirt, Noomthanong Suanmisakawan and Deiselnoi Chor Chanasukarn (x2).

The golden age of muay Thai produced some of the most brutal (and beautiful) knockouts of all time. Thailand's scene was awash with KO artists and the 6oz gloves they wore on their hands only complimented their precise punches.
The chances of so many legendary fighters all reaching their peak in alignment again seems almost impossible and the quality of fighters being produced in Thailand these days is surely on the decline since the influx of foreigners and rise and influence of gambling at stadiums.
Let's take a look back at some of the greats from the most epic era of Muay Thai...
