In this video I hang out with Nana the livestock guardian dog as we wait for the cows to come and eat a bale I just rolled out. I was a beautiful winter morning for making a video. Also I get to pet one of the shorthorn heifers.
Here I do another paddock shift with the cows. Where I find it difficult to film simultaneously as well as work on various aspects of the task. You can see me using Gallagher reels and post in this video.
In this video you’ll see everything from broilers out on pasture to interrupting cows. We used poultry crates to move them from the brooder to the chicken tractors.
Calving season is right around the corner so we're moving the herd to the paddock right by the house. That way it's easy to go and check on them. As you can see we've recently discovered that cows really like bananas, so we used them to get the herd moving towards the pen. Sadly I run out of bananas near the old barn. Emily starts filming for the rest of the move near the end of this part.
Here’s a late fall update from our farm. As you can see there’s no snow yet, which is great for us. The temperatures are starting to freeze the waters over night.
This is the second calf to go into the creek, but we have a solution. We will post it in the next video. So far this little guy is doing great and is nursing. We’ll register him and hopefully show him. I will film us halter training the calf and his growth along the way.
