Sometimes things can seem so dark, so grim. You can try to do everything in your power to turn it around but it just feels like everything is against you. This is a story from a subscriber Camila that is exactly that. She was born into a situation she couldn't get out of and all the pain led to one bad decision after another. Her mother treated her horribly by physically, emotionally and mentally abusing her. Her mother was so consumed in hated for her father for cheating and leaving her so she took out all her anger out on Camila. She had no chance. She sought abusive relationships to make up for the pain she was going through. When you grow up in an abusive environment, it's all you know and understand. Some people think it's all they deserve... Which is not true. But because of her abusive parent, she developed BPD, Borderline Personality Disorder. It means she struggles to control her emotions. "Anyone who knew me could tell how much I loved my family. I was lucky to be adored by two great parents who showed me what true love could be. As I grew older, I dreamt of someone loving me like how my dad loved my mom. They were everything a couple should be. I remember when I was in high school, all of my friends got flowers from boys and I didn't receive a single rose . I knew it was silly but I was a little bummed out again. But when I got home, my dad had gotten me flowers instead/ I was extremely grateful for his love but that moment made me realise that I didn't I wasn't a kid anymore and didn't need to get flowers from anyone. I was already lucky enough to have such loving parents and that was enough for me ! My mom spent the majority of my childhood, working the night shifts, so she would spend most of her days sleeping. It was mainly just my dad and I but he never minded, he would help me with my clothes and do my hair every day for school. I loved every minute I spent with him so, when I got accepted into a university in another province, it came as a complete shock. At first, my dad insisted on me not leaving. He even tried to convince me to go to a university near our house instead. But I firmly turned his idea down, I wanted to try and live on my own because I felt that If he didn’t let me do it now, when would I ever learn to do things by myself? In the end, my parents gave in. After my graduation, I needed to move even further away for work. My dad would call every day, asking how my life was going, and, when I would be back home that he would drive to get me straight away. But I always turned him down, I was happy with my independence. until one day, my mom called me freaking out. saying that dad never came home last night and begged me to try to call him to see if he would pick up. I kept calling and calling but it would go straight to voice mail. I was so worried, fearing an accident might've happened. It wasn't until a few hours later when my dad finally called me back and apologized, saying that he ended up sleeping at a friend's house and his phone was out of battery. I was relieved that he was safe. But after that day… everything changed, my dad turned into a completely different person. He rarely picked up my calls and started coming home really late. He would constantly make up terrible excuses and when my grandmother got sick, my dad refused to go with my mum to see her and ended up disappearing for weeks."
