Over 20 million Americans deal with thyroid problems, with 1 out of 8 cases being women. Even more alarming, is that 40-60% of those with thyroid problems may not know they have one, and have gone undiagnosed. These statistics are only based off the TSH level of 4.5mU/L, but two major endocrinology associations recommend that Hypothyroidism should be diagnosed at a TSH about 3.0mU/L. If this were the level used, we could see these numbers jump dramatically.
Fatigue, weight gain, depression, memory issues, constipation, cold sensitivity and more are common symptoms with hypothyroidism.
