The entire Covid-19 pandemic response has been driven by numbers. From the start in March 2020, we have been bombarded with statistics apparently primarily aimed at keeping us as confused as possible and in a sustained state of fear.
Few academics have been as outspoken as my guest today, who not only dared to raise his head above the parapet early on but also continues to speak out regularly against what he sees as the blatant manipulation of data.
Norman Fenton is a mathematician who is Professor of Risk Information Management at Queen Mary University of London and also a chartered engineer and a fellow of the British Computing Society. He specialises in using Bayesian statistical methods to challenge data and predict probabilities and — despite academic media censorship — has applied his methods to the Covid numbers and consistently found them wanting.
He was among the speakers at last month’s Question Everything one-day summit and last week he wearily Tweeted: 'I've come to the conclusion that we cannot trust any of the “official” statistics driving the Covid-19 narrative.’
Join me tonight at 5pm when I’ll be unpacking what Professor Fenton has discovered in his 19-month interrogation of official figures and what he believes needs to happen for us to find out what’s really happening.

Today U.S. regulators authorised yet another COVID-19 booster for people age 50 and older, now making 4 doses for some.
EU health ministers also tasked the European Commission to issue common advice for the administration of a fourth Covid-19 vaccine dose so it seems like clockwork the vaccine machine is up and running again!
Whilst there is very little scientific consensus around the need for a 4th dose, at what point will the wider populace begin to question the efficacy of the previous doses if yet another dose is on the cards?
Join me at 20.00 UK time as I attempt to unpack the latest turn of events as the Covid-19 saga continues to unfold around the world.

The language of ‘war used by politicians and the media to the pandemic emergency is not the only parallel that can be drawn between the covid pandemic and war in Ukraine.
Whilst many (including myself) are publicly taking an anti-war, or more positively a pro-peace stance, it has felt as though society has become actively “anti-peace”, designed to keep us in turmoil with fear of scarcity and turned against one another.
In this episode, I assess some of the parallels that can be drawn in the way that the issues of Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine have been presented and received.

First there were lockdowns. Then came the vaccines. Next, the idea that certain parts of society might be for the vaccinated only – enabled by smartphone-based vaccine passports.
But is this momentum towards social control the precursor of digital biometric ID? Will the state require us all to sacrifice our independence and free will to participate in society?
Is this all an inexorable move towards an Orwellian dystopia where we are coerced into constant surveillance, or get effectively side-lined by society?
Could we also be looking at central digital currencies, tied to our identity – that could be turned off if we don’t behave, don’t obey?
Or is digital ID merely an inevitable next stage of our adoption of technology?
Join me for this important discussion with Jeffrey Peel, founder of TECH: The New Era for an in depth exploration of where all this could be heading and how YOU can join the debate.

Even though it’s been pretty obvious for days where it was leading, it took until late last night for the Government to finally release some categories of double-jabbed essential workers from their ping prisons.
Everyone else who is vaccinated still has to wait until 16 August when they can ignore their phones and switch to daily testing instead.
Some estimates say 50% of these key workers are among the hundreds of thousands currently off work after being told to self-isolate on the back of someone else’s positive test. But despite this, only 16 industries can now excuse ‘critical’ staff from responding if pinged by the NHS Covid app.
These do include 10,000 food production and depot workers but not the supermarket teams needed to stack the empty shelves we’re now increasingly starting to see. And rather than address the crisis they’ve created, Ministers confirmed earlier that the Army is on ‘standby’ to secure the food supply chain.
Join me at 5.30pm when I’ll take a whistle stop tour of the pingdemic and ask whether this could be a preamble to moving even deeper into mandatory daily testing territory, with some workplaces among the initial targets in the autumn.

The creeping erosion of so many of our long-held democratic rights and freedoms is becoming starker and more audacious by the day in the seemingly endless global response to Covid-19.
But what can we do as individuals?
Today I welcome back Dr David Thunder, researcher and lecturer in moral, political, and social philosophy at the University of Navarra’s Institute for Culture & Society, who last joined me on the Pandemic Podcast in March.
In a series of recent Tweets, he has been voicing his own growing concerns, saying: ‘We look on in disbelief as we see the ship of representative democracy begin to sink. Many of us feel sad, helpless, and frustrated because we see many of our fellow citizens consumed by fear and propaganda.’
He then starts to explore the options he believes are still open to us to take back control of our lives, reminding us that ‘a strong and well-organised civil society is a tyrant’s worst nightmare’.
Join me tonight at 5pm UK time when we’ll unpick Dr Thunder’s analysis of what’s led us so frighteningly fast to where we are and how he believes we can turn the tide and rescue our rights before it’s too late.

As we emerge, slowly, and conditionally, from our latest lockdown, it can be easy to feel that such restrictions are a thing of the past. But we only have to look across the Channel — where there’s increasing talk of a ‘third wave’ and new variants — to see that this could be far from the truth.
My guest today is Dr Mike Yeadon, an independent biotech consultant with 32 years of experience in research and development with big pharma — including Pfizer at senior management level — and within biotechnology as a company founder.
Within this episode we will be exploring some of the pertinent issues around lockdowns, vaccine passports and the mass vaccination programme.
We’ll also be exploring whether the issue of ‘variants’ will become a likely cause of future lockdowns, and the implication this has for a potentially unending series of vaccine top-ups and boosters.

With the return of lockdowns in certain parts of Europe, now is more important than ever to ask whether lockdowns cause more harm than good.
To explore this question I will be joined by Dr Oliver Robinson, an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Greenwich, London, UK. Oliver specialises in a biopsychosocial approach to adult development and mental health and has published 40 peer-reviewed articles in this area.
In this episode we will explore the growing scientific evidence that indicate that lockdowns do not effectively reduce mortality from Covid-19 and weight up the costs and benefits of such policies.
We'll also unpack the biomedial and biopsychosocial models of illness to review what factors lead to people becoming more susceptible to covid-19.
