have you ever been in a situation where you want more subdivision of your cylinder but you already freeze transform or kill history?
I am R&D a tool to add more subdivision to it,
The prototype works well so far,
very satisfied to see the mesh smooth in action :)
The next step is to see I can make it work with a cone shape.

there is a function in Maya to select the shortest edge loop between two points, the problem is you can not "preview" what edges will be selected,
and it's hard to use. I am trying some ideas to preview edges before actually selecting them. I don't have much experience with things displayed in the viewport, try to hack it with a crease set, so can see the edges clear.

I love how in ZBrush and Blender you can draw a shape and cut out a mesh.
I'm trying to create a similar tool for Maya.

create Lattice deformer with rotation required.
problem with default maya Lattice is it's not align to the angle we need.
by rotate object to "roughly" match vertical tor horizontal then create lattice.
deformer can move the direction we want. simple UI to help quick reset lattice for further adjustment.
