"If" is just a beautiful song from the group Bread. I almost didn't do it under the overpass because of the cars.
"If" was the first song I ever did at a wedding, and because of that, it hold a special place for me.
Lyrics:
If a picture paints a thousand words
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show
The you I've come to know
If a face could launch a thousand ships
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you
You're all that's left me too
And when my love for life is running dry
You come and pour yourself on me
If a man could be two places at one time
I'd be with you
Tomorrow and today
Beside you all the way
If the world should stop revolving
Spinning slowly down to die
I'd spend the end with you
And when the world was through
Then one by one the stars would all go out
Then you and I would simply fly away

Affinity Designer 2 can be used to create 3D illustrations. This video will show you how I made “Patina.” You can use these techniques for your projects.
This video also verifies that my art - no matter the simplicity & crudeness - is made by a human being and not A.I.
“Patina” files link to Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/aks4208m5n5ehqi/AAA-etG8h_TylHF4sftFWGr4a?dl=0
Steps used to create this image in Affinity Designer:
1. Create a circle (ellipse).
2. Use the 3D effect found within the “Quick Effects” on the ellipse.
3. Click on the gear to gain access to more settings.
4. Choose where the light source will be placed and copy the azimuth and elevation numbers.
5. Go into the “Pixel Persona.”
6. Find a brush of your choice and choose a color.
7. Paint on the ellipse.
8. Select your pixel layer.
9. Choose the “Bevel” in the quick effects tab.
10. Play with the settings until you get what you desire.
11. Input the azimuth and elevation numbers you copied.
12. The effect will “carve” the brush into the ellipse. If you want the brush to “stick out,” continue.
13. Go to your “Highlight & Shadow” section within the bevel effect.
14. Switch the back to white and white to black.
15. Make sure your blend modes correspond to the white (“Screen”) and black (“Multiply”). You can choose any color or blend mode you wish.
You are finished with the steps.

In 1868, a pharmacist named Sanford Fillmore Bennett, 31, was filling prescriptions and handling sales at his apothecary in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. His friend Joseph Webster entered the store. Joseph was a local musician, vocalist, violinist, and amateur composer who suffered from periods of depression. The two men had occasionally collaborated on hymns and songs. Sanford writing the words and Joseph the music.
On this particular day. Joseph was unusually blue and his face was long. Looking up. Sanford asked, “What is the matter now?”
“It’s no matter,” Joseph replied. “it will be all right by and by.”
An idea for a hymn hit Sanford like a flash of sunlight. Sitting at his desk, he began writing as fast as he could. 'l‘he \\ords came almost instantly. Two customers entered the drugstore, but no attempt was made to assist them—Sanford was too absorbed in his poem—so they sallied over to the stove and yisited with Joseph. finally, Sanford rose and joined them. handing a sheet of paper to his friend.
“Here is your prescription. Joe." he said. “I hope it works.” Webster read the words aloud:
Instantly a tune suggested itself, and Joseph jotth down some notes. Picking up his fiddle, he played his melody over a time or two, then said to the others, “We four make a good male quartet. Let’s try the new song and see how it sounds.”
As “Sweet By and By” was being sung for the first time, another customer, R. R. Crosby, entered the store. “Gentlemen,” he said, “I never heard that song before
but it is immortal.” He was right. For over a hundred years we’ve been Singing an immortal hymn that was written in less than thirty minutes in a drugstore.

Lyrics:
There’s a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith we can see it afar;
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there.
Refrain:
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.
We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blessed;
And our spirits shall sorrow no more,
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.
To our bountiful Father above,
We will offer our tribute of praise
For the glorious gift of His love
And the blessings that hallow our days.

DONATE TO THE GREEN HILLS ANIMAL SHELTER
I will admit that I didn't like Nirvana when Kurt was alive, but when they started with the tributes, I got a chance to really listen to the songs. Lake of Fire was one of the first ones I really enjoyed. Kurt was an excellent songwriter and it's a shame that his choices cut his life short.
The lyrics:
Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
They go to the lake of fire and fry
Won't see them again 'till the fourth of July
I knew a lady who came from Duluth
She got bit by a dog with a rabid tooth
She went to her grave just a little too soon
And she flew away howling on the yellow moon
Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
They go down to the lake of fire and fry
Won't see them again 'till the fourth of July
Now the people cry and the people moan
And they look for a dry place to call their home
And try to find some place to rest their bones
While the angels and the devils try to make them their own

The National Anthem, a fitting song for the celebration of our country's 240th birthday.
The National Anthem is a song I've done a couple of times at Royals Stadium, as well as other events. It always provides a challenge, not only in keeping the words straight, but in the range of the piece. This song aint for beginners, I can tell you that.

Lyrics:
Oh say can you see,
By the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed,
At the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
Through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched,
Were so gallantly streaming.
And thy rocket's red glare,
Thy bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through thee night,
That our flag was still there.
Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

I Am Machine is a song about being so numb inside that you need to cut yourself to feel something,..anything. It's a place where I was many, many years ago.
I Am Machine expresses a state of being that really has no state of being. It's a place that I was in many years ago while I was in my 20s. While I never cut myself, the song has elements of this action. Back in the day, I would have identified with the lyrics had I heard the song. When you are numb, or rather dead inside, you are like a machine, going through your tasks of everyday life. Everything seems pointless and feeling,..anything is welcome. I knew that something wasn't right, but when you are numb to yourself and the world, actions towards getting better, is irrelevant. Close relationships almost seem like watching a movie that you are indifferent towards the characters. They can live, they can die, and you don't care about them, or about yourself. I've been there, and I'm here now and I'm not a machine any more. For those that might be reading this who are in that state right now, there is a light at the end. Sounds cliche, but it's the truth.

Lyrics:
Here's to being human
All the pain and suffering
There's beauty in the bleeding
At least you feel something
I wish I knew what it was like
To care enough to carry on
I wish I knew what it was like
To find a place where I belong, but
I am machine
I never sleep
I keep my eyes wide open
I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just feel something
I am machine
I never sleep
Until I fix what's broken
I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just feel something
Here's to being human
Taking it for granted
The highs and lows of living
To getting second chances
I wish I knew what it was like
To care about what's right or wrong
I wish someone could help me find
Find a place where I belong, but
I am machine
I never sleep
I keep my eyes wide open
I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just feel something
I am machine
I never sleep
Until I fix what's broken
I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just feel something
It wasn't supposed to be this way
We were meant to feel the pain
I don't like what I am becoming
Wish I could just feel something
I am machine
I never sleep
I keep my eyes wide open
I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just feel something
I am machine
I never sleep
Until I fix what's broken
I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just feel something.
