In the UK, it was 1 million people in just 9 days! There are more job losses coming! The main sectors to be hit are: Anything that isn’t NEEDED, so for example: We don’t need: Restaurants, McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Starbucks, Pubs, Clubs, Movies theatres, Bowling Alleys, AND OF COURSE, Leisure & Tourism, etc to survive If you work in these sectors, I would personally start applying for other jobs right away, because that sector isn't going to come back for a long time. Even if the virus clears up in the next three months, these industries are still going to have a delayed come back, because people won't have the money for luxuries so they will need to get level again. Jobs in general, won’t come back quickly, companies that have gone bankrupt won’t be coming back (meaning those jobs have also gone), so there will be more demand for the jobs that are available. This will also mean that it will push wages down because employees have more power. They can hire better people at lower prices. Unemployment will go up, adding more burden on the Government with welfare and rent payments on behalf of citizens. If you’ve been fired or made redundant, file for unemployment benefits & housing allowance now… don’t wait. No one will ever know you filed, it won’t affect you. Not able to pay your rent or mortgage? Renter: Ask your landlord to enact the 3 month mortgage holiday period. Mortgage: Enact this with your bank Housing: Uncertainty means people will wait to purchase houses, especially investors, so if you are about to buy, personally I’d just wait a few months… because there's nothing worse than being that person who buys a house in 2008… Many mortgage applications have been frozen! Some lenders are asking for 40% down pay, which gives a good indication of what the banks are expecting or planning for, otherwise, why else would they say 40% down? Reduce your outgoings: 1. Make a detailed spreadsheet of all of your expenses, because the first thing you need to do is to get an idea of what you have coming in and going out.
