Many make claims about various Bible stories, but few do actual research. Written evidence is not to be lightly dismissed or there'd be no such things as courts of law to try people for crimes, and if people can use writings to disprove the Bible, then writings can also be used to support it. David was described as "a man of war and valor" (1 Samuel 16:18), who also killed lions and bears with his bare hands (1 Samuel 17:34–35). He eventually became the armor bearer for Israel's first king, Saul (1 Samuel 16:21), who was "head and shoulders above everyone else" (1st Samuel 10:23-24). Average height of men at that time was likely around 5-1/2 ft., so Saul was likely at least 6-1/2 ft. tall. David was thus likely over 6 ft. tall. He tried on Saul's armor but rejected it because he wasn't used to it, not because it was too big (1st Samuel 17:39), so he was not likely to be much smaller than Saul. And Saul doubted David's chances with Goliath because of inexperience, not size (1 Samuel 17:33). After David had killed Goliath with the stone from his sling, he was able to lift Goliath's sword and decapitate him with it (1 Samuel 17:51). Goliath's height was "six cubits and a span" (1 Samuel 17:4).
