Well, folks, yesterday, Thursday may have been one of the worst days that Donald Trump has had in quite some time. We had movement on three different investigations into the former president, all of them not going his way. So let's start with obviously the big one, which is the one that came late in the day yesterday, the announcement that Donald Trump had been hit with additional charges in the documents case. These new charges allege that Donald Trump destroyed evidence by having one of his co-conspirators, a staffer at Mar-a-Lago, who was also indicted, delete footage off the servers three days after Donald Trump had been subpoenaed for evidence. So allegedly what happened, again, we have to say allegedly because he has not been convicted of this, but what the indictment alleges is that Donald Trump gets a subpoena for records and information, information that would include security footage off the Mar-a-Lago servers. Three days later, a staffer goes into the server room. This conversation, of course, is mentioned in the indictment. Uh, he's talking to another Mar-a-Lago employee, and they're like, Hey, the boss says I gotta delete the server. I don't know how to do it. The other guy's like, I don't know how to do it, but they specifically said, the boss, meaning Donald Trump, told me to come in here and delete all the footage. So Donald Trump gets hit with destruction of evidence, obstruction and all that fun stuff. So that is going to be added to the 37 counts that he was already facing in that documents case, putting even more strain on his loyal little judge, judge Cannon. So we'll see how that one plays out. I think at this point, if we had a fair and competent judge in that documents trial, it'd be safe to say that Trump is toast. Uh, there's no telling what Judge Cannon is gonna do. You know, she's, she's pretty much tried to make sure that she's doing what Trump wants her to do, but not making it overtly, you know, clear that that's what she's doing. So we'll see how this new indictment against him plays out. And then of course, the big news early in the day was that Donald Trump's lawyers went to dc, met with the grand jury, uh, Jack Smith's team, and that was a clear sign that indictments were on the way. And in fact, shortly after that meeting was revealed, reporters did start saying that Donald Trump's lawyers were told that Donald Trump will be indicted for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. So that's the January 6th investigation carried out by Jack Smith. But Trump says none of that happened. Trump got on truth social after all these reports started coming out. And he said, my attorneys had a productive meeting with the D O J this morning, explaining in detail that I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, And that an indictment of me would only further destroy our country. No indication of notice was given during the meeting. Do not trust the fake news on anything. So it's funny that he is like, yeah, I don't trust the fake news. I'm totally not getting indicted again. And then later in the day, he actually did get indicted again. So, uh, here's the thing though. In an interview with the New York Times that ran this week, Marjorie Taylor Green issued what I perceive to be a threat against house minority leader, Kevin McCarthy, Marjorie Taylor Green told the New York Times that once Republicans win back in the midterms, win back the house. Uh, Kevin McCarthy, basically, if he wants to keep his, uh, leadership position better, give Marjorie a whole lot of power, or else there's gonna be some problems, here's what she said. I think that to be the best speaker of the house and to please the base, he's going to give me a lot of power and a lot of leeway. And if he doesn't, they're going to be very unhappy about it. I think that's the best way to read that. And, and that's not in any way a threat at all. I just think that's reality. So the fact that she says this is totally not a threat, that's just the way it is. Like that's the threat. Marjorie, do you not realize, like, listen, hey, I'm not threatening you. I'm just telling you what is going to happen, that's like, Hey, if you don't pay me this money, I'm gonna break your legs. That's not a threat. That's literally what I'm gonna do if you don't do what I want you to do. So yes, I, I I think it's pretty obvious, at least in my opinion, that Marjorie Taylor Green is issuing this threat to Kevin McCarthy saying, You're gonna give me all the power I want. You're gonna give me all the leeway I want to do whatever the hell I want, or you're gonna have some problems, Kevin, you wanna deal with those problems? You want my people up here causing a scene? Good. So you better give me everything that I am demanding from you. It's not necessarily blackmail, but I do think to a degree, this could be considered extortion, right? Not that it's illegal, but we see very clearly what Marjorie Taylor Green is doing. And we also know that Kevin McCarthy is a coward. Kevin McCarthy wants to have the power in the house, but in order to have that power, he's going to have to appease people like Marjorie Taylor Green. And we have already seen Kevin McCarthy completely backtrack on the house agenda if Republicans take back the house, right? Six months ago, he was telling newspapers and reporters that we're not gonna spend the next two years investigating Biden. That's gonna ensure that we get our asses kicked in 2024. But now he's saying, Hey, I'm gonna go with Matt Gates and Jim Jordan and every committee's gonna be an investigative committee. We're gonna investigate this, we're gonna investigate that They have a list of 70 individuals and topics that are going to be the targets of investigations. Now 70. And Kevin McCarthy is going right along with it, even though he's already Freely admitted that's gonna kill the Republican Party in the 2024 election. But he did it because people like Gates and Jim Jordan banded together and they said, Listen, Kevin, if you don't do what we want, you're not gonna be the speaker. I'll make Jim Jordan the speaker. Matt Gates has said, He has said that repeatedly. So Kevin, if you wanna maintain your position of power, if you wanna be the guy listed for all of eternity as Speaker of the House of Representatives, then you'd better play ball with us.
