Yes, we did visit the Full Moon Party beach in Koh Phangan, but didn't linger, as the day was hot and the crew kinda whiny. Take a look at the sand though. Fabulous place. THe lack of tree shelter makes it a roasting oven though and so escaping to Leila beach was what we needed.
As I mentioned already, there are two more videos left of Thailand and after that it's back to Korea. I hope you guys enjoyed this ride with us, and will stick around for all the fun to be had in Korea.

How To Move House in South Korea (2019). Yesterday was moving day. Moving can be stressful, and even more so when you add the exertion involved in preparing like packing and the physical lifting of the actual boxes. Not in South Korea though. The moving companies here do literally everything, from packing up all the clothes into individual boxes, to washing out the refrigerator after all the items have been removed. Once the items are moved to the new location, the movers do their best to restore all the items into their intended positions, so clothes go into closets, books on book cases etc.
It took all morning for the movers and shakers to get the job done, and it will take us a week to get things organised here, but I am always astounded by the efficiency with which the moving companies take care of business here. Moving furniture in and out of of high rise apartments using windows, is very unique to South Korea and no wonder, with appartments being the predominant living space in this country.

Korea in the News - Hagwon Startup Podcast #32. Trying out something new, something less focused on Hagwons in Korea and something more focused on Korea itself. This does not mean that Hagwons will be excluded, it just means that the thumbs may be different.
Normally the intro that follows goes thus:
I am an Expat with close to a decade and a half of ESL experience. I operate a private language school franchise in the city of Ulsan, South Korea and know a thing or two about starting and operating an ESL business in South Korea. In this podcast I share some of my ideas and knowledge with a wider audience and also hope to learn new things along the way. I hope to provide our viewers with insights on how to start a Hagwon in South Korea, discuss some pitfalls and success stories, and bring an overall awareness to the beginning and running of innovative companies.
Teaching English in Korea comes with a lot of challenges for both the teachers and owners. In discussions with our guests I try to cover as many topics related to Hagwon Startups and teaching English in Korea as well as globally as our combined experience of this field allows.
As the Living Korea channel matures, and the Hagwon Startup Podcast chugs along, my goal is to include more episodes, in which I get to talk to interesting people doing exciting things in South Korea, outside of their regular teaching professions.
Do expect the unexpected though, as we do not shy away from off-
topic conversation.

This is that time we went hiking in Korea, Ulsan the month of December in Ulsan. We hiked Munsu San, right after Liam's birthday, I believe. It's been a while since a made a vlog. I missed the editing process so here is the vide.
This was the first time Malli and Liam both climbed to the top of this mountain, and even so, it wasn't from the very bottom, but still an achievement in and of itself. I believe that Liam can do much better than this, he has it in him. It is Malli who struggles with the hikes up. Fatherhood is so strange. Maybe that's another video.

How Elementary School Students Register in South Korea - 초등학생이 한국에서 등록하는 방법 [국제 가족,국제커플, 혼혈아기]
This is the year when Liam starts elementary school. Big deal. We proposed a move abroad so both Malli and Liam could go to an international school and Liam announced that he wanted to go to a Korean school. Mainly because he things his English is not good enough to be in an international school which I realize are ungrounded fears for a 7 year old, but none the less, his want made our decision easier.
So for the time being we are working on our business instead.
I try to take one day at a time and see what the future will bring. Decisions are hard to make and even harder to stick with once they prove to be difficult to follow up on.

News update for South Korea, November 2020.
About me:
I am an Expat with close to a decade and a half of ESL experience. I am the Franchising Director for Shane English Korea based out of Uslan, South Korea and know a thing or two about starting and operating an ESL business. I have also lived in South Korea since 2005, and although far from an authority figure on the cultural intricacies of the South Korea culture, I have some basic understanding of why things are the way they are, which I hope to share with those willing to liste. In this podcast I share some of my ideas and knowledge with a wider audience and also hope to learn new things along the way. I hope to provide our viewers with insighlts on how to start a Hagwon in South Korea, discuss some pitfalls and success stories, and bring an overall awareness to the beginning and running of innovative companies.
The most recent focus of the podcast has been on interviewing expats who reside in South Kroea and spend their livelihood doing things beyond teaching. With that I hope to bring some insight into the possibilities open to expats living and working in South Korea, beyond teaching.
Over the past 88 episodes, I have had the pleasure of sitting down with some pretty interesting individuals and I hope to continue this for the foreseable future.

Weekend Beach Cleaning with We Hope
This Saturday, I drove dow to Jongja beach located between the cities of Ulsan and Gyeongju. Despite the week long rains, the weekend, particularly the Saturday has turned out quite nice and sunny.
The beach clean up event was organised by We-Hope, a local volunteer organisation, led by Nate Mandigo, a Canadian expat who works together with the Ulsan city hall to promote a variety of volunteer, opportunities geared towards the building of international relations between local expats and the natives in the city.
It was a great opportunity to get out and spend some time outdoors doing something good for the environment. I am very happy to see that people care enough to devote their Saturday mornings to this cause.
