I have been experimenting with my sandwich toaster in making things besides toasted sandwiches and have been obtaining very surprisingly good and tasty results. I used pancake batter to make these so I am calling them pancakes, but they taste more moist and flavorful than any pancakes I have made before. I screwed up the video close up of the pancakes at the very end but have added it anyway as i made and ate two batches of pancakes today and did not feel like making another batch just to show how tasty they looked on the plate. I made some corn muffins earlier this month and they were excellent and have made several experiments with them. The great thing about making corn muffins in the toaster is they are moist and not dry plus it is much quicker and I don't need to preheat a big oven and heat up the house and I can make small fresh batches instead of making large batches in the oven and then have them go stale. I will make some more corn muffins with fish or chicken fillings and upload it. if you guys like the sandwich toaster videos let me know and I will see how many different things I can make in the toaster besides sandwiches, it should be fun. This is a used toaster I got at a thrift store for $3. You can find these all day long in the thrift stores. They are pretty cheap new also. Thanks for watching. Soup is very under rated. This soup takes less than 3 minutes to cook in my pressure cooker. It is simple to make, low cost, highly nutritious and tastes and looks great. The recipe ingredients are flexible and substitutions are fine. The soup also gets better the next day after cooking and it freezes well. Did I mention it creates a wonderful aroma in the kitchen. If you are a vegan, leave out the chicken and bouillon If you have company that is staying for a bit, bring them into the kitchen while you chop the vegetables and talk. Put everything into the pressure cooker and turn on the heat. Once the weight starts dancing, turn off the heat after 3 minutes. Go do something with your company. When you come back the steam is gone and the soup is done and your company will be amazed. If you have some fresh bread and sharp cheddar and a bowl or two of this soup you don't need anything else to eat. RECIPE 3 minute soup 2 medium sweet potatoes 2 medium white potatoes 1 large onion garlic chicken strips dark meat cabbage kale can of tomatoes with sweet peppers frozen vegetable blend ( broccoli, cauliflower, squash) turmeric Lemon Pepper Paprika Worcestireshire sauce Corrington Farms Chicken bouillon powder Note: The Turmeric creates a wonderful yellow tint to the broth and does not interfere with the vegetable taste at all, plus it is very beneficial to health. In addition, adding lemon pepper to the soup increases the bioavailability of the turmeric , pepper has been found to dramatically increase the benefits of turmeric. The minor lemon flavor in the lemon pepper also goes good with the vegetables. I like to finely grate some of my carrots as it increases the hearty flavor of the soup. I would substitute many vegetables in this soup, but not the carrots, tomato and onions as they are the heart of the soup. I normally add celery and bay leaf but was all out. A small amount of corn or chick peas are also good additions. If you have never added sweet potatoes to your soup, you will after trying it. The Corrington farms Bouillon is quite good, I searched high and low for a powdered bouillon that had no MSG and as few as chemicals as possible, the Corrington Bouillon is the best I have used. It also comes in many flavors, including vegan for my vegan friends and viewers. One way to add a boatload of protein to your diet is with chickpea tofu pies. I have made lemon chickpea pies, chocolate chickpea pies, Florida cherry chickpea pies, banana cream chickpea pies, and pumpkin chickpea pies and I liked each one. You can make your chickpea pie with a box of pudding or add eggs and cornstarch to thicken it up. All of my pies have been made with store-bought Graham cracker crust. It's important to mix the chickpeas thoroughly in the food processor to remove any graininess or parts of the chickpeas. Nobody wants parts of chickpeas in their pie. You don't have to use the box shelf-stable tofu it's perfectly alright to use the refrigerated tofu. When I used the refrigerated tofu I only used about half the amount. I'm guessing 8 oz. Experiment with your sweetener and add as much or as little sugar as you want. When everything is mixed thoroughly I put it in a ceramic bowl in the microwave for two minutes at a time on high. After 8 minutes it's quite hot and thickened. Just pour it into the pie crust and then when it's cooled off put it in the refrigerator overnight. I like to add whipped cream or Greek vanilla yogurt. I'm going to make a lemon one again. The lemon was the first one I made and I used the recipe from the tofu manufacturer that used cornstarch and did not heat it up. I think my method will make a superior lemon pie. Have fun with this recipe. Nobody has made these before as far as I can see. There isn't a wrong way to make it if you like it. This is a quick update on my balcony garden experiments My grow bag made from a bag the dirt comes in worked out very well. the dirt is wicking the water very well from the trough on the bottom and the tomato plants are growing, however , I only get an hour of sunlight the morning so I will be happy if anything grows well at all. I made a super quick and cheap pvc trellis and used the string method to stake the tomatoes. My grow bags I made from landscape cloth worked well also but the lettuce and spinach did terrible as there is not enough sun and they were spindly like seed sprouts. My parsley is growing slow but has grown well before and should be ok . My big surprise was how well the sweet potatoes grow with so little sun. I have been experimenting with the leaves and found several different ways to cook them that are very enjoyable, I will do a sweet potato leaf recipe video later. I also think if the tomatoes do not turn out well I will be replanting all the grow bags with sweet potatoes. I am also planting some ginger as I know from experience they will grow in reduced sunlight. I may also try some cabbage or any other vegetabes that do not need a lot of full sun. One funny and unexpected thing that happened was even though I am screened in and up several floors, and do not have to worry about most bugs or moose and squirrels, the other day the building was pressure washed and the water had chemicals as they damaged my leaves, and a week later maintenance who has tried to remove a hive of bees above my apartment for months came back and I think they finally sprayed it and may have gotten poison on my plants. so no matter where you are, there is something to mess with your plants. I want to say how much I am enjoying seeing other people putting their garden videos on YT. my balcony plants are really more of an experiment than a real garden. I know there are master gardeners on YT whose bags of fertilizer take up more space than I have for plants. but a lot of people may be in the same boat I am and have a small balcony with poor lighting, so I thought it would be fun to see what I could grow. thanks everybody like imstillworkin and mhpgardener and larry hall and mugsyeff and so many others for their inspiration and sharing of their yt videos.
