The album, which proved to be quite illustrative of the period: programmed drum loops, spoon-fed melodies and a shift towards the "adult-alternative" style that flourished in the decade. they made an entirely placid album that didn't quite offer the same dizzying euphoria as its predecessors.

The result is a beautiful, lush, but somewhat dated and unengaging sounding album that tends to wash over the listener without making any real impact.

Necessary for diehards and potentially interesting to those that have never heard the band before, ***"Milk & Kisses"*** says nothing, but says it beautifully.

***"Cocteau Twins"*** was a Scottish band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by ***[Robin Guthrie](https://cutt.ly/tvKpRaT)*** (guitars, drum machine) and ***[Will Heggie](https://cutt.ly/nvKpOu1)*** (bass), adding ***[Elizabeth Fraser](https://cutt.ly/AvKpDfq)*** (vocals) in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist ***[Simon Raymonde](https://cutt.ly/CvKpJR8)*** in 1983.
The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often abandon recognisable language, than on the subjective sounds and textures of verbalized emotions. They pioneered the 1980s alternative rock subgenre of dream pop.

In contrast to the band's more abrasive post-punk albums that arrived earlier, ***”Treasure”*** is an exercise in making beauty seem alien, and making alienation seem sublime, for that matter. The gentle, futuristic-medieval pluckings are combined with moody washes and Fraser whispers and upbeat guitar lines or the slightly jazzy touches.
