The Overland Machete is a Jack of All trades and a master at being a machete. Not only does it do an excellent job clearing bush, vines, small trees, and just generally blazing a trail, it does well at filling the slot of a regular blade as well. As the industry has come to expect, the 1075 steel's heat treat from LT is spot on and the spine is a very aggressive 90 degrees for scraping wood, bark, and a ferro rod. Many would say this could be a One Tool Option.

After 7 years of using the same EDC flashlight, I decided it was time for an upgrade. On this journey to find a new one, my first stop is the Thrunite TC12. The main feature I like, aside from the varying brightness's, is it's memory. Set it at what level you prefer and it starts there next time you turn it on. This takes the hassle out of it's dual control with the tail cap and fore end button. The varying brightness's are all at usable levels and the strobe is out of the way so it never accidentally gets turned on unless you want it. Overall I am pleased with this light and will definitely continue to use it as my main EDC flashlight.

William Collins from WC Knives has come up with his take on what one could describe as a One Tool Option. This knife is designed to tackle large and fine tasks alike. It features a scandi and saber dual grind that have the same 11 degree grind angle to allow both an even transition between grinds while cutting but also allow for ease of maintenance.
Check out www.thegauntlet.tv for all the reviews of this knife.

The 180 Stove from 180 Tack is an extremely simple stove that is easy to setup, very light, and compact. Yet, don't let the simplicity fool you as just because it is simple doesn't mean it is versatile. This stove, with only 6 easily assembled pieces offers quite a bit. #1 on the list of what it offers is the convenience of using a cook stove to cook but it comes with the experience or "romance" of having an open fire. It is easy to use and very fuel efficient. It is one of those stoves where the fuel is used on an as needed basis with very little waste in cooking energy. I am extremely impressed by this offering from 180 Tack.

The Hennessy A-Sym Classic continues it's journey through the Gauntlet with an overnight test run. This hammock is quick, simple, and easy for setup and provides an extremely comfortable hang and a good nights sleep. It is a rather unique design with a bottom entrance and built in bug netting to keep the pesky winged critters at bay. The price point is a bit more then most entry level setups however the built in features easily make up for the cost in my opinion.

This is one is specifically for my friend Malcolm the Wilderness Hiker. He has been asking me to set a plastic grocery bag on fire with a ferro rod for 3 months. Finally I gave in...and as a bonus, I attempt it with a bow drill coal as well.
