Started off telling the story of Calvin and Sadoleto, one of the most important interactions in the early period of the Reformation, and then using Calvin's response as a spring-board to look at a number of other relevant issues today once again related to sola scriptura, tradition, etc. 90 minutes. We also live-streamed for the first time on Twitch, which, I am told, is mainly for gamers. One commented at the end of the program, "Worst game stream ever." Yes, I'm sure it was! ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scpPbhbSJRo
No, Pete Buttigieg does not have a husband, and no, he and that other guy cannot become parents. And that embarrassing situation is directly connected to the fall of Kabul, and we explained by at the start of the program today. Then we talked vaccine mandates and what they are really all about, before jumping back into Surah 4:171 and really digging into the Islamic topic once again. Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/ Spent some necessary time looking at "the Pope Video I," Francis' recent video promoting a kind of squishy ecumenical message that while consistent with some trajectories from Vatican II is certainly not consistent with historic Roman Catholic theology. Then we looked at some questions regarding Mormonism, focusing on the idea of the priesthood and the concept of prophets. Mentioned a few things related to current events along the way as well, I will admit! Also, I mentioned a Dividing Line from a few years ago on the meaning of aparabaton at Hebrews 7:24, which you can find here. https://www.aomin.org/aoblog/mormonism/romans-1513-1-tim-4-heb-724/

Did the program live from my hotel room in Pryor, Oklahoma via Skype…and it worked this time! Yay! Talked about Laren Daigle, Ed Shaw, and the covered Hebrews 2:9 in light of the comments posted by Steven Anderson on the subject of the atonement. Enjoy! Everyone is talking today about the homosexual Pennsylvania state representative who berated a Christian woman outside a Planned Parenthood abortuary, so we chimed in as well, and then moved on to make some more comments on what happens when you “swap CTs,” that is, when you trade covenant theology for critical theory. The result is a big mess. Then we transitioned into a discussion of how Theodore Beza handled Matthew 1:23 and how this shines a light upon the untenable nature of the modern TR-Only movement. Jumped all over the place today, to be honest, on a number of topics. One was my insistence that you need to buy and actually read, or listen to, Abigail Shrier’s Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters. I can’t recommend it too highly, even though it is not a Christian work, and hence cannot provide the final answers. Eventually I got around to responding to JD Greear’s tweets about his use of the phrase “gender justice” in 2019.

We continued our response to Pastor Mike Winger’s July video regarding limited atonement, today focusing on the topic of intercession. Important material! Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/

Covered the vast wide countryside of theology and apologetics today, including a review of the Free Speech Apocalypse movie (and some non-spoiler comments about The Martian!), a brief listen to one of the candidates for the Kentucky Baptist Convention presidency, one of the audience questions from the recent atheist debate, and finally, after a bit more wandering about, nearly an hour on the Ehrman debate we began on the last program. Hope it will be helpful! Please note that I am on grand-baby watch this week (due Thursday!), so whether we get more DL’s in this week or not is completely dependent upon…others!
For nearly two hours Pastor Jeff Durbin and I discussed ReformCon, beer tasting at the Boulders, Christian News, Marcus Pittman, a Thursday night tattoo session, JD Hall, holiness, sanctification, Christian freedom, and the role Internet polemics plays in creating simple falsehoods and controversies over fictional events. I had a few clips I did not get to, as it went longer than I had expected, but I truly believe that for any serious minded person, the facts have been laid out fully. My thanks to Jeff Durbin for coming over to our side of the Valley to do the program. May God grant peace to His people, and a unity of heart in facing the real challenges of the days ahead.
