Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville from the state of Alabama has been in the news a lot recently, not only for his blockade of Biden's nominations to effectively run the United States military, the Marines are actually now without a leader for the first time in their history. And that's all thanks to Tommy Tuberville. But he was also in the news last week, of course, for defending white nationalism, saying, it's just an opinion that these people are racist. He says they're just Americans. And then he defended that statement by becoming even more racist, by saying that he, as a football coach, has quote, dealt with more black people than anyone. So you would think with his basically assault on the military, you know, his embracing of white nationalism, trying to rebrand them as something they're not, you would think that that would be costing him. But according to a new report he's actually gaining in popularity in his home state of Alabama. Now, I guess technically that shouldn't be a surprise, right? When your senator openly embraced racism, you know, 49 other states, that's probably gonna cause you a bit of a problem. But you go do that in Alabama and they're gonna be like, oh, hell yeah, let's get out the hoods. This guy's one of us. So I get it. Totally get why in the state of Alabama, embracing racists would actually elevate your campaign instead of destroying it. And that kind of seems to be the case here. But what's even worse is the fact that tuber v's assault on the military by blocking these Biden nominations, that even Republicans in the Senate want him to stop blocking. Like, they're not happy with it. They don't like it. They didn't like his racist comments last week. They denounced him. His own brother denounced him, but his constituents love it. And see, this is where I think a lot of people forget that a disconnect exists. I am probably 20 minutes away from the state of Alabama. Like if I wanna basically leave my house, I have to go to Alabama to do that. So I'm very familiar with it. I, I live there for, you know, three or four years, uh, in my childhood, moved away from Florida to Alabama, back to Florida. You know, again, we're right on the border of Alabama. I see these people, I know these people. I have lots of friends in Alabama. I do business in Alabama. And I can tell you in a way that a lot of these other folks who do this cannot, that racism does in fact work for these folks blocking these, you know, Biden appointees, because I'm standing up for, you know, pro-lifers is, is Tuberville argument. They like that. And the problem is, when you are not close to it, when you're looking at what happens in Alabama all the way from California, or maybe from New York, or, you know, even further up north, you're looking at it from a blue state perspective. You're looking at it and you're thinking, well, how can these people be so horrible? The whole state of Alabama? Just a bunch of racists. Now, trust me, they got a lot of them, but the whole state is not in fact racist. You know, I, I will definitely say that. I, I think it's ridiculous to think any state is 100% racist, but there are plenty of them. And that's the problem, right? You don't have that perspective. I have a question, and I think it's a question that everybody watching this should also be asking. Why are we as American taxpayers paying the salary for a guy acting as a fill-in host on the conservative Newsmax network? Because we are now, we're not paying his Newsmax salary. Of course, absolutely not. That would be a bit ridiculous. But we're paying him as a United States representative. That man, of course, is Matt Gates, because last Friday and this past Monday, Matt Gates filled in for Newsmax host Greg Kelly in the 10:00 PM slot. So sitting member of Congress, filling in on a cable news, political talk show, and we are paying his salary as a lawmaker. Both of these fill-in nights occurred obviously during the whole debt. Uh, ceiling negotiation. Will they, won't they? Who knows? But rather than focusing on that, like all the rest of the lawmakers, Matt Gates had to go out there and prep for his appearance, had to get ready for the big show, had to get ready for his cable news tryouts, we should call it, and he did it on our dime. Now again, we're not paying for him to be on newsmax. I hope Newsmax didn't pay him to be on newsmax, but I have been in the media business for nearly 20 years now. I have seen people prep for cable news programs. I have seen people prep for cable news fill-ins. I have had to book shows for hosts on cable news. I know what I'm talking about. Probably better than most people you could talk to. It's not just a couple quick hours. It's an all day process, all day, every day. So you can't tell me that while Matt Gates was working out his fill-in, working out the lineup, suggesting who they were gonna talk to, what they were gonna talk about, prepping questions, reading over the script, doing the research, reading the notes, you can't tell me that none of that happened while he was technically on the clock as a member of the House of Representatives. I'll do you one better. I want to know if any government equipment, government issued computers, laptops, cell phones, if any of that was used for Matt Gates to make his arrangements to be a fill-in host on NEWSMAX Act. Now, I'm not saying those things are illegal, but I'm saying not just as a taxpayer that pays his salary, but as one of his frigging constituents, I'm off about this. Can you imagine? Let's just do it this way. Imagine what the conservative world would do out there. If Nancy Pelosi filled in one night for Rachel Maddow, do you think that would go over very well with conservatives? Or do you think they would be throwing a bigger hissy fit than they threw over Bud Light and Target? And now of course, chick-fil-A combined, we would hear about it for months on end. They would accuse Pelosi of abusing her power of engaging in unethical behavior, of using government resources to prep for her fill-in night on Ms. N B C.
