Today's broadcast concerns the little known, brief and extremely damaging civil war immediately after the British empire granted Ireland independence in 1921.
Independence was a face saving measure from an exhausted British empire and it was was in name only.
Irishmen had to swear an oath to the British Crown and Ireland became part of the Commonwealth.
The 32 counties of a now-divided Ireland were totally dependent on London financially and as a result, much of its financial life was controlled by the empire.
This ignited a war between those supporting the treaty and those rejecting it that still has a strong imprint on Irish politics today.

The U.S. government is buried under a massive amount of debt. Yet people (often those who are deemed to be experts) really don’t seem to understand what this means. Economists have actually made statements such as, “It doesn’t matter because we owe it to ourselves”. However “we” don’t “owe it to ourselves”. This assertion is a blatant lie as it is not the government that creates money but The Federal Reserve and the Fed is the big banks. The Bible warns that the debtor is subject (a slave or “in servitude) to the lender. In this context, the government is in servitude to the big banks. So much for “by the people, for the people”.

Grandpa Dan takes a look at the hard work of the British police in keeping the citizens safe. While listeners of Radio Albion are well aware of what sort of work the British legal system is prioritizing, this week’s story takes a look at some of the minor things that just so happen to be falling through the cracks; little things such as burglary. One of the hallmarks of a failing society is when the legal system spends its energy and resources prosecuting non-crimes while ignoring actual crimes such as threats to one’s life and property. One of the basic tenets of a society is that in exchange for participating in the society one can have a reasonable expectation that they can be secure in their life and property. When it is proven over and over again that this assumption of basic protection is false, it is inevitable that more and more people will opt out of participating in the society all together. The end result is the accelerated decline and collapse of the society as the last fig leaf of legitimacy is pulled away.
