An explanation of how to show two polygons are congruent. Types of polygons and their traits. Regular and non-regular polygons are described. Corresponding sides and corresponding angles are discussed as well as the symbols for congruency, measure of an angle, angle and triangle. #11.3 ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfIqmYAv17s
We can use information from a description of a linear relationship to find the slope and y-intercept and to write an equation. We walk-through three word problems to write the data from the problem as an equation in slope-intercept form.
The steps are:
1) Identify the input and output variables
2) Write the input and output variables as ordered pairs
3) Find the slope (the rate of change)
4) Find the y-intercept by using the slope and one of the ordered pairs
5) Use the slope and y-intercept to write the equation.

Two figures are similar if one can be obtained from the other by a sequence of translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. Similar figures have the same shape but may be different sizes. Similar is not the same as congruent. Congruent means same size and shape. Similar means same shape. We walk-through identifying a sequence of transformations that will transform one figure into another. We show how instead of doing a reflection, we can do a rotation. We've learned how to do these transformations in Module 9 and 10, through 21 lessons.

We can read and write numbers through hundred thousands in standard form, word form, and expanded form. We review Periods in a place-value chart, and how each period contains hundreds, tens, and ones. When we write a number in Standard Form or Word Form, we put a comma between each Period. We use a place-value chart to find which digit in the number has the greatest value. The number farthest to the left will have the greatest value. We use a place-value chart to write large numbers in Standard Form, Word Form, or Expanded Form. We write the names of each period greater than the Ones Period, when writing in Word Form. The last Period is always the Ones Period, so we don't need to read or write the word Ones. If we total all the addends of a number written in Expanded Form, it would equal the number written in Standard Form. We use a table of information of city populations to find which city has the greatest value in the ten thousands place. We write the population of another city in Word Form. We use common sense and deductive reasoning to figure out what a possible score in a game could be by adding place values.

Today is Monday July 24, 2023, and tomorrow Gracie's eggs may start to hatch. It takes about 21 days for the eggs to hatch, and it has now been 20. I won't be able to see the new chicks underneath her unless I move her, and I don't want to do that. If she does have chicks, she will protect them fiercely.

A place value chart contains periods as a group of three digits separated by commas in a multi-digit number. Each place value period contains ones, tens, and hundreds columns. We can read, write, and represent whole numbers by identifying the periods and the place values of the digits in the periods. We name the number and the period, then place a comma between the periods starting from the right. When writing numbers in expanded form or word form, if a digit is 0 in a place value, we don't need to include them in the expression. The total value of a number is the sum of the values of the digits in each place. We briefly discuss the difference between numbers written in Europe and the USA. We compare two numbers by writing them in a place value chart, then counting the number of whole number place value positions. We use place value patterns to rename a number by grouping place values together. We write the value of an underlined digit in a multi-digit number. We select the correct word form for a multi-digit number. We select the correct expanded form for that multi-digit number.

We use the strategy "make a table" to help us solve several word problems that involve multiplication. A graphic organizer is a tool, such as a table, that we can use to better understand a problem. We review using the Distributive Property with addition, and with subtraction.

We can find a difference between the lengths of two objects by measuring to find the length of each object. Then we write a subtraction equation to find the difference between the two lengths. We do a quick review of how to measure with a centimeter ruler. We measure and compare several different objects to find their differences. We solve two word problems that involve comparing lengths. When we measure an object, we will get an actual length, the real length. When we estimate, we are making a good guess that would be close to the actual length. We discuss longer and longest lines.

To write a number that is less than 1 but greater than 0 in scientific notation, we move the decimal point right and use a negative exponent. We show what happens when we enter a very small number on a scientific calculator, then push "enter". We walk-through a word problem in which we need to write a very small number in scientific notation.
