Part 7 of this series, stage by stage, on Normal for now. If you know how to handle this stage's sub-bosses and bosses, they go down quickly. If you do not, then you'll quickly see how this becomes the "threshold" stage for a lot of casual players or game reviewers. You are basically told to put your shield up in the Mother fight to prevent a very quick death, but you can also dash across the beam while firing on Mother the whole time, then unloading the Frag and your heavier weapon (if you have one) on it while recharging. You will also fight against a pair of Angels in this stage. If you time it correctly, you can take out about 3 cores per rotation with well placed Frags and aiming Spread type weapons on any that might go over your head and land.

A reupload of an older video I did showing another way of reaching the final two mansions. You'll still need the Red Crystal and certain other items to clear the final Bridge blocks, but this is just another fun way to get there instead of kneeling for the tornado to carry you over clear from the other side of the game map. Not a cheat, no codes used. This can be done on any version of the game, but your timing and placement must be precise.

A detailed commentary series for Contra III on Hard Mode, where I discuss the mechanics, weapon choice, tricks, enemy placement and boss strategy, stage by stage, in order to take this game on without a single death. Stage 4 is short and... well, torture at the end of it. I discuss placement and strategy, as well as how to handle the flying missile section and boss. With practice, you CAN do it!

A newer but similar run to my older one of this game that was in way worse quality. All about those elbows in this version. No Jimmy fight at the end, although there is Jeff. Many Jeffs. There's also the evil Wall, much like the NES version, and here, there's even a set of Spear Traps which are designed to end your game immediately. If you know some little tricks in positioning, down to the pixel, you can trigger a thrown knife to knock you to safety. Counterintuitive, yes, but effective!
Played via MAME on a Retropie Gamestation and recorded with a 4K HDMI Video Capture and XSplit. No pausing, turbos, save states or any other cheats were used.

Commentary track to the accompanying 1CC run.
Another no loss feat in a fighting game! Last time I did one of these was Mortal Kombat II. JCVD as Guile! In Kickboxer, he was told he couldn't win fights "using that tip tap shit." Not so when said tip tap shit is performed in a Super Combo! Such a "smart" display of artificial intelligence, with the computer largely incapable of defending against nonstop Flash Kicks. Only one round lost here, to Bison himself, who almost pulled out the upset!
Played on MAME using default settings. No pausing, turbos, tool assists, save states or any other cheats were used.

The first stage is super easy to tear through, especially if you're powered up, but even if not, it's pretty straightforward. You'll see a lot of frag use! If you're playing standard, melee will speed up most fights.

Part 9 of this series, stage by stage, on Normal for now. No real boss fights in this stage, just some exo mercs, a more dangerous Angel and a potentially very dangerous gun turret area where you'll want your shield up and your dash frequent. Put your skill points into both at the expense of most everything else for that section.

A detailed commentary series for Contra III on Hard Mode, where I discuss the mechanics, weapon choice, tricks, enemy placement and boss strategy, stage by stage, in order to take this game on without a single death. On Hard, even the first stage can be a doozy, but with practice and knowledge of what to look for, you CAN do it! I hope this helps anybody making the attempt.
