Casey Jones
No it's not the Grateful Dead version (which is also a great song), but rather the traditional American folk song about the tragic folk hero Casey Jones. It was first sung by an engine wiper and friend of Casey’s named Wallace Saunders and set to the tune of a popular song at the time called "Jimmie Jones". There are many versions of this classic and we will probably never know exactly what lyrics Saunders originally sang. If you are interested in American history, then this is a great song to do further reading on. Anyways, hope you enjoy this rendition!

Happy New Year! Here is the classic that you are probably used to hearing this time of year. The original Scots lyrics were written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to an older folk melody. "Auld Lang Syne" is often loosely translated to "old time sake" in English. I found that most of the recordings of this song tend to be much slower, however I think a more sprightly tempo is appropriate. Also, I chose to sing most of the song in standard English but threw in a few words of the original Scottish pronunciations where fit. Wishing you all the best in 2024.
