"Protect the Yellow River" is a piece part of the "Yellow River Cantata". To quote an official 300 page research document on the song's background: "In a letter dated September 15, 1938, Dr. Chu Chia-hua, the President of the Chinese League of Nations 33 Union and Vice-Chairman of the International Federation of League of Nations Societies wrote: During the past seven years, more than 2,000,000 square kilometers of Chinese territory have been occupied and approximately 150,000,000 Chinese people directly affected by the continued aggression of these militarists. In spite of the vast extent of such ravages, however, Japan is continuing her aggression upon China with renewed vigor.
