Empathy Series Episode 2: Dr Catherine Fyans
Dr Catherine Fyans is a practising G.P. of some 40 years in Melbourne. She was one of the most popular guests in the history of my other show ‘The People’s Project’ where she was able to demonstrate common sense positions on COVID-19, masks and government lockdowns.
Catherine seems to have a great deal of empathy and she agreed to an interview for our EMPATHY SERIES where we sought to explore all things COVID-19 as well as the psychological role that lockdowns (and emerging from them) play in all of our lives.

Surgeon Dr Gary Fettke is tired of cutting off limbs of patients who are being misled by dodgy dietary guidelines pushing sugar onto diabetics in hospitals.
He has been fighting a war to get his patients real food and lower their fructose intake. Even while under his care in hospital he comes against much opposition.

Food companies definitely push ultra processed foods on poor people. I grew up in and around the worst areas of South West Sydney in the 80s and 90s and eventually moved to the Eastern Suburbs. The mentality of the consumer and the corporate marketing mix are so obviously targeted.

Shhh... it's a secret they don't want you to know.
WE set the tone of our state, not our Premier or their office full of media spin, or their agencies which are proving themselves to be mere political arms of government.
How do you think modern policing works? How do you think government compliance works? How do you think laws work? How do you think mandated culture changes work?
All of it, all of it, relies on the community to do the heavy lifting to self-regulate. Nation states rely on fear of fine, community pressure, and the internalised virtues of their citizens to regulate behaviour.
But the secret is falling apart as we see compliance waning (evidenced by movement data provided to government by Google). What we do everyday matters far more than what government tells us to do.
So I have advocated (with success) for the complete rejection of immoral Chief Health Officer directives such as closing outdoor playgrounds, and 'not being friendly in the supermarket' (Dr Kerry Chant's moronic advice).
Don't like your state? Change it.

The shifting goalposts. Nobody seems to know what triggers what anymore.
Even in the Victorian Lockdown 4.0 extension, our state managers James Merlino and Brett Sutton are refusing to stipulate thresholds for lockdown ending.
Instead, Richard in this segment advocates a much more nuanced and intelligent approach to managing the situation. Standing up for reason like this against all the fear mongering, is what you call 'leadership'.
I'm sure there are MPs in the ALP who also have this 'leadership' trait...but where are they? The faux 'leadership' we hear from the soon to return Dan Andrews is not leadership at all. It's abdication of leadership to 'advice'. That's called CYA Leadership (anyone in corporate life will understand the CYA principle of management).
