Peter Asher recounts the creation of The Beatles' Apple Records which brought together some of the most eclectic sounds and talents of the time.
Launched by The Beatles in 1968, Apple served as the new outlet for their own recordings as well as the music of an eclectic roster of artists who were all personally brought to the label by The Beatles (individually and/or collectively). In the revolutionary spirit of the times, Apple's utopian artist-orientated mission celebrated diversity in a friendly creative environment. The result was a rainbow spectrum of music, from folk, rock and soul to The Modern Jazz Quartet and the work of contemporary British classical composer John Tavener.
The Dark Side of the Moon, sung by Roger Waters, with harmonies by David Gilmour.
The lunatic is on the grass
remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
the lunatics are in the hall
the paper holds their folded faces to the floor
and every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
and if there is no room upon the hill
and if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
you raise the blade, you make the change
you rearrange me ' till I'm sane
you lock the door
and throw away the key
there's someone in my head but it's not me
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
you shout and no one seems to hear
and if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
eclipse
All that you touch and all that you see
all that you taste, all you feel
and all that you love and all that you hate
all you distrust, all you save
and all that you give and all that you deal
and all that you buy, beg, borrow or steal
and all you create and all you destroy
and all that you do and all that you say
and all that you eat and everyone you meet
and all that you slight and everyone you fight
and all that is now and all that is gone
and all that's to come and everything under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon
Jackson Browne - Too Many Angels (From "Going Home" DVD)
"Going Home" was originally broadcast on the Disney Channel in the USA in August 1994 as Jackson Browne was touring following the release of his acclaimed "I'm Alive" album. Always a strong selling title, "Going Home" is now being repackaged and reissued for 2010.

For us getting on stage is to live a purest form of what we are without any distortion. Once having this reference point of what purity is, we can apply it to our everyday experience. It’s not an easy task yet inevitable, as nothing stays the same and what looks as a challenge today, tomorrow could be viewed as a lesson, and in a week time as an experience. Life keeps evolving. There might be challenges, technical difficulties, emotions followed by a great applause or a complete silence…And no matter what happens, the man keep on whirling…Generating energy, allowing life to expend itself…
Thanks for and to being!
