Only MOTORISTS use the BIKE LANE here ??
Slowly but steadily Jakarta is becoming a slightly more bicycle-friendly. For such a big city, this won't be something quick though. Along a part of the corridor of the first MRT line in Jakarta, separate bike lanes have been installed and will be rolled out further in the near future. But these fysically separated lanes are continuously abused by motorists, of course, as this is Indonesia and road users don't care about others.

Railroad crossing number 46 (#JPL46) next to Pondok Jati station in Matraman, East Jakarta, is one of the oddly busy at-grade railroad crossings positioned directly next to a train station. Because of regular heavy traffic and the pretty high frequency of trains here, long closures for traffic do occur.
I recorded this one yesterday, in which the crossing was basically closed for almost 10 minutes, with a number of trains passing during this single closure. We’ll run through it, as there is much more to see than just those trains. People risking their lives to get across is one of them, heck, even railroad staff crosses illegally here.

In the second episode we travel on the commuter line for several sections from and to Manggarai station to see the progress at March 28, 2021.
The huge infrastructure project of the Indonesian railways, the doubling of tracks between Manggarai (Jakarta's main train hub) to Cikarang (the most eastern station on the commuter rail service of Greater Jakarta, is still ongoing. The doubling from two to four tracks should have been finished in 2020, but it's delayed. Progress is still made on the 34-km-odd long track and construction site.
Station in the intro clip is Manggarai station in Jakarta.

The missing link between LRT Jakarta and basically all other forms of rail transport is a section of elevated track of about six kilometers between LRT Jakarta’s southernmost Velodrome station and Manggarai Central station.
Work on the construction of this extension has started a few months ago, and we can already clearly see some of the progress made. We’re checking up on the section nearest to Manggarai train station where the piers under construction are pretty tall!
