Can a 12V diesel heater run on 24V if you change the settings in the ECU?
TLDR - No.
There is a theory that you can run a 12V-rated Chinese diesel heater at 24V if you set the ECU to 24V in the secret admin settings.
In my test, I bought the cheapest heater available on eBay for £89. It has the very basic ECU and controller which lets you select 12V or 24V from the secret settings part of the menu.
If you change the ECU to 24V, connect a 24V supply and turn it on. It tries to heat the glow plug and then gives a glow plug error and stops.
Doesn't even kill it. Fires right back up on 12V.
