In the last few years I have been adding Apples to my diet, so figured it would be a great idea to try to grow some as well. I live in an area of Georgia that gets enough frost hours for the trees to form fruit. Its very much needed for these trees to experience between 500-1000 chill hours below 45 F (7 C). My Cherry trees also require these cold days to produce fruit. And with the amount of rain we get regularly I think they should be a good fit for the climate. These kind of fruit trees will drop their leaves in the winter and then form new ones as soon as the weather is warm enough.
I bought two Apple trees, an Honeycrisp and a Cortland Apple tree. Starkbros sells both of them, and I had them shipped to me. I placed my order during the winter and got them in the beginning of spring time.
By having two, close to each other they should pollinate each other and give me better fruit. They flowered the first year I had them but no fruit formed. I think the trees decided to put their energy into the roots and leaf growth and did not attempt to form fruits this year. Though maybe next year they will be settled and have enough energy to form delicious apples. I wonder what will fruit first, the Apples trees or the Cherry trees.
These two trees are semi-dwarfs, meaning they should not grow as tall as a standard Apple tree. Since my property is not all that big I figured having a smaller version should be suitable. I hear they can still get twelve to fifteen feet tall in many cases. And with me being over six feet tall I should be able to reach them without needing a ladder.
I really like Honey Crisp Apples, their flavor is my favorite of all ive tried. I honestly cannot if I have tried a Cortland Apple. Though I really have not eaten an Apple I did not like. Looking forward to seeing what forms in the next few years with them. In the mean time ill just enjoy their fuzzy young leaves and flowers that smell amazing.
Since I made some stencils it was time to add the designs to my strawberry planters I painted. Using some regal red spray paint and my stencils made with thick paper I tape it up and get to spraying.
The over spray is something I had to deal with at first but after learning I added more paper and tape around where I was spray painting. I ended up adding the logo to all four sides, maybe next time ill just add it to one or two of the sides instead. Just got really into spraying that stencil.. haha
I plan on using this stencil again for my bee hives, though I may have to make a slightly smaller one, this stencil may not fit on my bee hives. I can easily make another one by printing out a slightly smaller logo on my laser printer and then etching it out just like I did in a previous post. See link below on how I did it.
https://peakd.com/hive/@solominer/made-some-hive-stencils-for-spray-painting
and
https://peakd.com/hive-174578/@solominer/video-of-making-my-own-hive-stencils
The bees wont mind the logo, actually they wont even be able to see it. Red is one color that bees cannot see. So I guess it will just look like plain bee box to them. Not that I think the bees would be offended by the Hive logo or anything, they would probably dig it if they understood the technology.. hehe
The stencils have held up well, I thought they were going to rip but glad I ended up using the thicker paper. Its the stuff you would draw on or make posters out of. I found the copy paper too thin and easy to tear after stenciling the Hive logo. So I bought some poster board and redid it on there. The only thing was the over spray I had to watch out for, and to make sure I had the stencil flush against what I was spraying it on. Or the logo comes out a little fuzzy.
I may make a really large stencil so I could put it on my wall somewhere in the house. But I think thats something I need to research how to do as I would need multiple poster boards to accomplish that. Maybe ill scale up to that before trying such a large project. And since my laser printer can only print up to letter size and legal size it might be harder than I think to do multiple sections of a stencil. For a single poster board logo this one I spray painted on the planter is probably as big as my printer can handle. I would need to order a print from a larger printer if I wanted to do a single print design for stenciling.
The fight outside the guard house was getting pretty intense, between the cops and by bodyguards there was alot of shooting going on.
Making a run for the swat truck and escape from the lot we were in. Most of the bodyguards have been taken down so its just me and one other.

I stop by a crane and climb up to see if I could get a better shot but had a hard time seeing any of them.

Finding a cop car right by where I land I take the car and speed off.

One of the tires got shot out when trying to make a get away so I put on the sirens to hopefully keep cars out of my way. I come across a road block and get stopped by it but luckily another cop car was there for me to grab.

Dodging the swat trucks and cop cruisers I try to put on some space between me and police. Though I eventually crash and need to find another vehicle.
I ditch the busted cruiser and come across a swat truck. I run up and get in it. But trying to make a break through a barrier really messed it up. But I drive off and come across another car.

In a parking lot I see some good cars to pick and before the police catch up and choose a Mustang like car. But as soon as I flee a cop shoots out my tire, so I ditch that car right away for what must be the fifth car change in this chase. I mean yeah I got godmode on but the vehicles take damage so those must be changed every so often.

Having fun with a stunt by the airport I send the cop car flying that I grab when that cars tires are shot out. Then I make a turn for the airport runway and see if there are some aircraft to take to make a better get away.

I indeed found a jet and take it just as a swat truck is pulling up where I ditched my vehicle.

They try to shoot at me as I take off but they do not succeed in grounding me. It does appear the windscreen got shot out and one of the engines is smoking but thats it.

I fly for awhile trying to make as much distance as possible, but they do just spawn in when you have four stars so maybe I cannot get away without going into the mountains or something.
https://i.postimg.cc/bw2jY5mM/vlcsnap-2021-03-08-15h10m20s951.png
The smoking of the engine gets worse so I put down the aircraft on one of the roads far away from where I took off. Looks like a pretty rough landing.

Ditching my aircraft after it crashes into a car I dont want the vehicle to explode with me in it. So I bail and a light post drops on me.. lol
I can hear the cop sirens closing in, so I try to take the car that my jet crashed into but it was totaled. So I take a cop car until I can find something better.

Had the idea of using a bus, they are pretty tough once up to speed. But I get it pinned and as the cops arrive I had to opportunity to pin a cop car to a wall to stop them from being able to exit.

Throwing some grenades I take out the cover for the police arriving on the scene. I just start dropping grenades as I run leaving explosions in my wake.

Playing with godmode can be fun in new ways, just keep running for as much as you want without getting wasted. I do enjoy using trainers in this game on single player and just doing whatever I want, not following missions or anything.

I started these plants in early spring, and really impressed with how much growth they have put on. We have had dozens of Strawberries to eat between May and June. Now its mostly just putting on vegetative growth. These plants in the pots did much better than my hanging Strawberries. I think due to them having much more root space. Though I wonder if the pots have become too crowded. It seems like its producing less now that the pot is completely full of plants.
To test this @activate.alpha and I planted some of the runners into their own pot with alot of space. Curious to see if they produce large Strawberries. If so I need to thin out these pots. And to do that I will need some more pots.. Haha soon enough ill a dozen pots just for Strawberries. If I can find a way to keep the Yellowjackets from feeding on them maybe I can enjoy them more. The early Spring they did great and we got alot, but as summer moved on. Many animals, insects and birds fed on the berries.
I think at this point in the year I will leave them alone and let them just do their thing. Since the making of this video I have trimmed off all the runners coming out of the pots and placed them in their own containers.
Quite impressive these plants produced fruit within a month or two of planting. Now I just have to figure out what they want so they will produce more. I think spacing them out will help alot. Maybe Ill build an aeroponic system for them so they each have their own space. Though thats a project alone and maybe Ill save that for when I have a little more time.
I show off my Hive planter as well, adding the blockchain logo to the sides of the box. At the moment they are holding up pretty well but we shall see if they swell up over time. The building material of this planter is not the best so I hope they will hold up. Otherwise I may need to buy some clay pots.
Really glad we started growing Strawberries again, and looking to do more cool things with them. Even if the hanging planters did not work I have other ideas for some garden projects using them in the future.
Making a push for the unclaimed areas around the great swamp, since the military hq is too intense to take over. The plan is to take over the outposts around that area and then slowly close in on that location. I make a run for a broken down car and wait for backup to arrive. They got taken out by unknown forces, could not see who was shooting at them. But after taking out my troops they started to fire on my position by the car.
I died a few times but kept trying to take the location. With explosions off in the distance I could tell the bots were putting up a fight. I come across an injured monolith troop and I gave him a medpack to heal with.
Eventually I make my way into a base and secure it. Taking the enemy troops ammo and supplies that I find useful. I can hear a battle going off in the distance, closing in on the military they are putting up a good fight. Found some allies around a camp fire and tried to sell them what I did not need though none of them would have it.
Moving back towards the areas that are not captured. I am careful not to get shot at by enemies trying to retake the areas I just captured. Some monsters found me and I had to fend off these little creatures, they sure pack a punch and really hard to shoot at. Three of them attack me and I had to take them out with the knife.
One of my bases got over run, and I headed back there to recapture it. But quickly got shot at, so I had to take cover.

When I moved to Georgia I would see this evergreen plant in the forests and sometimes in peoples yards. I did not learn till years later that the berries it produces are edible. A follower of mine @goat-girlz mentioned they are indeed edible and can be used to make a jam. She goes on saying they can be found throughout the forests in Oregon, probably where it got its name. Georgia shares similar climates to Oregon in some areas so makes sense it grows in both places.
I made the jam last year and it had a flavour like Cranberries. The jam was a dark crimson red color and only yielded a few tablespoons once cooked down. If eaten raw they can be very sour like a lemon. This spring the plant flowered and produced fruit again, but I must be quick as the birds will eat them all the day they are ripe. They turn a dark blue color when ripe and feel a little soft.
These plants are like hollies with stiff pointy leaves, care needs to be taken handling them as they can pierce the skin. The plants I bought have been around for about five years now and are really starting to leaf out. I moved one of them as I planted both of them too close together when I got them. Moving one about a hundred feet away from the other. Interestingly when I pulled up one of the plants, I found the roots a bright yellow color like Turmeric. Not something I regulatory see and found it interesting.
Oregon Grape also known as a Leatherleaf Mahonia is a great plant for my Bees. The flowers form in late winter and open usually a week or so before the Solitary Bees emerge. Since not much else is flowering at the time the Bees tend to cover this plant and really do a good job pollinating them and making fruit appear all over the plant.
The plant has origins from mainland China and Taiwan and was brought to Europe at some point and then found its self in America.
I present another Mac Classic game, way before OSX was even an idea. This game I have logged hundreds of hours in growing up. Between Marathon for Mac, and this game its about all I played.
Using an emulator I was able to get this game working again, and I have been spending some time playing it. I tend not to follow the missions, just doing my own thing instead. I have never been real good at the missions so I find myself just having fun however I can.
What I am suppose to do in this mission is fly over across the bay to an enemy base and take out some SU-25s before they can take off and make their way towards where I took off from. I tend to just hop onto the run, way going the wrong direction taking off and then firing my cannon at the cargo plane, it causes them to panic and abort landing and to do a go around.
I also have to British Tornadoes that will assist me in the mission, though I find going after them in the A-10 is more fun. They are very fast and I find I only get one or two chances to take them out before they are out of range. Since they have their radar on, I can use anti radation missiles to home in on them and see if I can take them out for fun. Though they are really booking it by the time I get close to them and sometimes the missiles cannot catch up to them.
I fired two in a pair, in case they launch flares and chaff. A better chance of me hitting them that way. Anyways I always find a way to have fun with this game, and I am happy even 25 years later its still fun for me to play.
I noticed a fern growing up around some Leyland cypress trees I have. It was the same kind of fern I have growing in another area of the property. But its pretty far from where I found this. Making me wonder how it got established.
As far as I know I did not move any of them there, and I am surprised the plant reproduced so far away. Ferns are not like other plants that produce seeds. Ferns also do not produce flowers, but they do produce spores under their leaves. That is where the name cryptogram comes in where describing these kind of plants. Crypto as in hiding, since the spores are hidden underneath the leaves.
I guess a spore found its way a few hundred feet and got settled down in the mulch. Or maybe some spores got blown over by the Leyland cypress and then I covered with mulch and then they popped up. Not really sure how it came about. Once in awhile I get a plant I have no idea how it got there. I found a pumpkin growing once, another time a mango and now a ghost fern just popped up far away from the others.
Taking over the homestead near the Great Swamps turned out to be quite the battle. I used the sides of the building to run around and try to be one step ahead of my enemies. Using the corners as cover as they attempt to advance on my position. Got shot alot, reloaded my game alot. But I was making progress. I think I took out at least 10 enemies at this location all my myself, the Monolith in the area were not able to help for awhile as they were busy holding down different locations. I was pretty much on my own, and just had the walls to protect me. I could hear gunshots off in the distance where Monolith was battling some unknown enemy. Maybe monsters or the military, just not enough of them to break off a squad to come assist me in my location. And id rather spend my money on ammo and supplies instead of some dumb AI thats probably going to die quickly.
Over time I have less and less of them to deal with and make my way into the homestead. I decide to walk around the building again and take all the weapons, aid and ammo before reinforcements get here. They tend to loot bodies.
I had one more battle before it was over for the moment and fellow Monolith started arriving at the homestead. Though many times the enemy will make another push to take their base back over again. I need to adjust the lighting. Had it set for night time and inside buildings but during the day the rays coming from the sky look pretty wild. Loving all the setting changes I can make in Anomaly, I dont recall being able to do all of this in the vanilla game.

Driving the mobile howitzer near the enemy base and setting up a few hundred yards from one of the exits to the air base I wait with my cannon. Some APCs exit and I attempt to take them out. I come across a tank, though some RPGs were engaging me before I could take them out.
I check out the firing support requests though I have not been able to figure out how to aim with them. I just stick to using the cannon manually. Eventually some incoming shell takes me out, I have no idea who it was. Did not even register as a kill in the upper left corner of the screen. After respawning I take the F-16 and do some anti air support. I come across a bomber and then saw a fighter jet going my direction. I turn into them and attempt to take it out with my cannon. I get some hits shown by the indicator in the cross hairs. I fire a rocket and score a hit, a lucky shot. I get out of the area when I confirmed it was down.
Theres a bridge I flew under and clipped my wing on the side, though not enough to crash.
I fly back to the base and just plow the fighter jet into the hangar, I was amazed I survived. The jet started glitching out so I got away before it exploded and jumped into the Apache attack helicopter. I just it over to a secret corner of the map that has extra aircraft. Using one of my favorite aircraft the A-10 I goto the enemy base and take them out. Using the cannon and bombs I lay a path of destruction on my foes. During my A-10 rampage I almost crash into a hovering helicopter. I give it a burst from my cannon, probably hurt it pretty bad.
After spending my bombs I go for cannons only and have some fun with the camera layout. Loving the smoke trail left by the massive cannon mounted to the A-10.
