EPSolar 4215BN Charging 4S/16 volt Lithium-Ion Battery, Part 3
Checking out the charging parameters on the solar charge controller and the 4S/16V battery.

I think the parameters are dialed in pretty well for this setup. I have the bulk and boost charging voltage set to 16.1v at the controller. This results in approx. 16.02v at the battery terminals. The float charge voltage is 16.0v (at the controller) and kicks in 120 min. after boost charge starts. The boost reconnect voltage is set to 15.9v.

In further testing, I've found that I see a maximum charging voltage of 16.76v with the 16.1v setting. This occurs when at full charging voltage when either a large load is shut off or there's a cloud edge effect. It takes some time for the MPPT algorithm in the controller to back off of the maximum power point when there's a large load change. This overshoot will likely reduce with a larger capacity battery bank.

I placed a number of parameter files in an EPSolar folder on Google drive:

Feel free to have a look at those and if you have any custom profiles you wish to share, pass them along and I'll put them in that folder. The 3S/6S Li-Ion and 4S/8S LiFePO4 files are defaults in the solar station monitor program.
More to come...
