Lucas de Mulder stirs up all the correct ingredients of a deep funk song with a powerful guitar riff and lively beat in “Say Goodbye.” Inspired by iconic albums like Grant Green’s ‘Live at Club Mozambique’ and The New Mastersounds’ ‘Live in San Francisco,’ the vibrant tune mirrors that same energy on both the dance floor and in the studio. With guidance from Eddie Roberts after the two guitarists met while Matador! Soul Sounds was touring in Spain, “Say Goodbye” was honed in the studio as Roberts help craft a complementary bass line to support de Mulder’s original riff. This is the third single off of a full-length album ‘Feel the Spirit’ produced by Eddie Roberts for an early 2021 release on Color Red.

“Mr. Sneaky” by Aaron Johnston’s (Brazilian Girls) newest project J.E.D.I., does just that on their second single as part of a monthly release series via Color Red. The initial melody embodies Mission Impossible vibes and right when it settles in, the track breaks down into ethereal chord voicings courtesy of Borahm Lee on Rhodes. From there, it ramps into a breakbeat double-time feel before taking it home back to the initial melody. Just as any classic spy movie exemplifies, “Mr. Sneaky” is mysterious, funky, playful, and always there watching and waiting. Stay tuned for the next single by J.E.D.I. coming out on April 16th.

Musical Style: Afro-Beat, Doom metal, Psychedelic rock, Funk-Rock, Proto Metal
Musical Influences: Budos Band, Black Sabbath
Musical Inspiration: "David and Dennis have been working on different projects around funk and soul for years. With Tetrao Urogallus they wanted to finally pursue an inner urge for dark sounds and combine it with their influences. Groovy sounds with fuzzy guitars and an unbeatable brass section.
They met for a jam/recording-session to see how it goes. In the end the self-titled debut album 'Tetrao Urogallus' was born on one weekend."
Artist Statement: "With the song 'Tetrao Urogallus' the whole idea of the concept of the band was born: the eponymous capercaillie/wood grouse. The mystical sounds reflect a gloomy forest atmosphere through which the capercaillie makes its daily rounds - not urban and deserted. The title of the first single 'Tetrao Urogallus' is also the eponym of the band and of the upcoming album. So this song is very important for us "
Track Description: Tetrao Urogallus presents their eponymous proto-metal, psychedelic funk debut single on Color Red “Tetrao Ugogallus.” Through this track, the concept of the band was born as the title is Latin for ‘wood grouse’ and all subsequent tracks are Latin terms for flora and fauna. The mystical sounds in “Tetrao Urogallus” reflect a gloomy forest atmosphere through which the capercaillie makes its daily rounds. Collaborators David Nesselhauf and Dennis Rux have worked together in several projects and the two are able to pursue their love for dark souls, fuzzy guitars, and captivating brass sections in Tetrao Urogallus.

“Still Got Time” by Euforquestra is musically inspired by classic soul and gospel music while lyrically reflecting on the present times we are living in. Keyboardist Matthew Wright had the idea to write a song that speaks to the current state of the world and felt it needed not just the physical voice of frequent collaborator Kim Dawson, but her perspective as well. Dawson took the opportunity to be honest about her frustrations but didn’t want to leave it there. She wanted to impart a message of hope to listeners and use the song as a call to action to make the world a better place. The track is the third single off of the group’s forthcoming album ‘Still Got Time’ available on Color Red in fall 2022.

"The Answer Dub" is a new age dub track with percussive elements and spacious, ambient sounds. This tune was produced and mixed by the renowned engineer Matt Goodwin of The Movement, Easy Star All Stars, and formerly John Brown's Body. Goodwin takes the contemporary reggae sound of Policulture and amplifies the sonics by adding a thick layer of transcendental dub effects. Whether a fan of the classic dub arrangements of King Tubby, or the modern sounds of Stick Figure this track will no doubt intrigue any dub fanatic.
