In this video I give you a tour of my setup for keeping coturnix quail outdoors. The overall dimensions are about 9'6" x 8'4" and 5'10" tall. Right now I am keeping only 10 quail in there, but plan to add another 35 in the next couple weeks. Links to items used:

In this video I show you how to make your own tick tubes for tick prevention.
The white-footed mouse is the #1 vector for ticks. The ticks attach themselves to the mouse, stay attached for their blood meal, and then fall off and reproduce. The goal of the tick tube is to provide the mice with some bedding that is toxic to ticks.
Here is the equation for dilution:
(Desired Amount * Desired Concentration) / Current Concentration = Amount of current concentration to add to desired concentration.
D% * D(amount) / C% = C(amount)
If you want 1% permethrin in 1 quart of water that would be:
0.01 * 32oz / 0.1 = 3.2 ounces of 10% permethrin
So anywhere between 1.6 and 3.2 ounces should be sufficient.

In this video I show you how to check your lawn for chinch bugs. If your lawn looks dry but is getting plenty of water it may be being attacked by chinch bugs.

I installed an automatic chicken coop door controlled by a timer. This design uses all 12V devices. The linear actuator has an automatic shutoff switch when it is fully extended or fully retracted, and draws a maximum of 3A. I used a 12V 4A power supply to power the system.

How to make tick tubes using dryer lint and toilet paper tubes. Links to products used in this video are below.
Over the winter save up your toilet paper tubes and dryer lint, then make these in the spring and place them around your yard. By using permethrin in this way it is specifically targeted at ticks so the impact on other beneficial insects will be significantly reduced.

In this video I show you how save money by using a standard, after market power supply with the Hovabator 1588 which requires reverse polarity. Note that you need a 5.5x2.1mm DC jack. The 5.5x2.5mm jacks are very common and the adapters are cheaper, but they WILL NOT work. See below for links to products used in this video.
