Welcome back to the channel! If you followed my Instagram you should've seen teasers of this project throughout 2021. Well, it's finally come down to starting the "Dad Build" Project. My dad is stubborn and doesn't like to admit when he needs help but I know that he'll secretly listen to my advice. The intent is to build a loadout that I think my dad would use should he start advancing into the more modern world. It all started out when I suddenly recalled the EOTech XPS2-Z (Zombie) holographic optic complete with biohazard reticle. I asked the community and one of my followers had one to part with (Thank you again! You know who you are!). I sent it off to EOTech for an out of warranty refresh and now it's brand new again. After, I was ordering a holster from Safariland and needed something else to get free shipping. Out of curiosity I looked at their offerings for the Ruger SP101 3" revolver. Sure enough Safariland had a SLS holster available, so I couldn't help myself and ordered it. I specifically ordered the belt slide version because I already had UBLs and QLS forks but if you need the UBL then order accordingly. I pieced together a dedicated belt for this rig using spare parts I had lying around. I already had the speed strip pouch, but did order the Bianchi speedloader pouch when ordering the holster above. Welcome back to the channel folks! This video covers modifying the 6000 series Safariland Level 3 retention holster to Level 1 retention. Safariland's Level 3 retention consists of the Automatic Locking System (ALS), Self Locking System (SLS), and Hood Guard. I opted to do this because Level 3 retention is not my preference and is not needed for my specific use. I bought the holster because it was inexpensive by Safariland pricing standards, so I made due with what was available.
