ARISS will be supporting SSTV transmissions worldwide in memory of cosmonaut Alexei Leonov. The event runs from Dec 28 (11:00 UTC is the setup time) until Jan 1, 2020 (18:20 UTC when the system is scheduled for shutdown). Transmissions should be on the standard frequency of 145.800 MHz and in the PD 120 format.

I looked at an Fujitsu esprimo mobile v5535 yesterday that didn't seem to be charging at all. As a result the battery was dead and would not power on so after testing the power brick that tested OK, I striped the laptop down to test the dc jack and found it to be faulty,
To gain access to the DC jack the laptop has to be disassembled completely which isn't something for the faint hearted !
With some laptops the DC power jack (socket) is soldered directly to the motherboard and some attached to the motherboard via a short cable assembly with a plug on the end which attaches to the motherboard. This is the type that is soldered directly to the motherboard. in this video i show you how to desolder the power jack and replace it.

Heating System wreck This is an old video that I have re-uploaded because of an error with Youtube
This a look at a heating system that was installed about 20 - 25 years ago in microbore pipe, all the valves are locking up and not working as they should so we drained the system and made what repairs we could after letting some rad cleaner circulate through the system for a week,and then flushing it for 2 hours,with the recommendation that all the pipework,valves and rads are replaced,The boiler is a worcester greenstar oil fired boilers installed about 6 years ago and is still good some rads have been replaced and some new rad valves fitted, but in this situation it's best to bring it up to date and stop firefighting.
