743 students graduate at UTC Elgon - Minister Muyingo tasks religious leaders to preach the gospel
State minister for higher education, John Chrysostom Muyingo, has tasked religious leaders in Elgon region to preach to believers the gospel of technical vocational education and training (TVET) if the country is to produce job creators. Masaka residents have started preparations to host the Presidential Advisor on Security Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
They said they would also like to benefit from the various initiatives Gen MUHOOZI has been initiating in other parts of the country.
The plan was presented by Team Chairman Michael Nuwagira Toyota who met them at the Brovad Hotel in Masaka.
Bashir Ssemakula, who led the event, urged the people of Masaka to love the NRM without any hesitation.
He also asked for Greater Masaka to be included in Muhoozi's various projects and take him to visit them.
Isah Nsubuga, Team chairman in Masaka, said they want Muhoozi to visit them so that they can benefit from the various programs he has done in various areas especially among the youth.

At least 2200 people in fishing business in districts surrounding L. Victoria have been trained in modern methods of fishing and improved practices in fishing value chain. This one-year exercise has been conducted by the German Corporation for International Cooperation GIZ and outstanding groups have got fishing equipment worth UGX 1.5 billion.
This training of one year concentrated on vulnerable households and communities, artisanal fishers and small and medium sized enterprises in fishery sector.
The GIZ and partners working with fishery groups empowered at least 2200 members in the value chain and modern fishing practices.
This business development services project costed 1.5 billion shillings, and trained members benefited from the modern fishing equipment as a grant from the development partners
Drying racks is a modern hygienic method of drying fish and with this project, groups are empowered on how to adapt in order to harvest fish even during off season.
The training comprised of value addition where groups skilled on primary processing of fish to boost incomes and basic financial management.
Fishers surrounding Lake Victoria decried of the current regulations which prohibit them from using solar lamps which are cheaper and less risky.
The project of training fishers was effectively implemented for 14 months in 15 fishing districts surrounding L. Victoria and L. Kyoga.
