Today’s first story comes from twitter user _Rogame, which has been pretty on point so far with digging information from various benchmarking websites. Today he brought us some insane geekbench benchmarks of 2 mysterious Nvidia GPUs. Now I’m going to say it right now, these will definitely not be consumer-level cards, but it is an indication as to where Nvidia is going with this architecture.
The first GPU is specced with an insane 118 SM’s for a grand total of 7 552 Cuda cores and what we can assume is 24GB of memory. The second has 108SM’s for 6912 Cuda cores and 48GB of memory. I’m rounding up the memory here because what shows up on geekbench is probably just the software not picking up the specs correctly..
If we were to compare those to some of the best Nvidia GPU’s right now, notably the Quadro RTX 8000 and Tesla V100S, their core count pale in comparison. Another thing that you can notice from these cards is the lower base clock, and while we don't have the numbers for boost, we can assume that they are lower than previous gens given the actual geekbench scores. In any case, we still don't know if its hopper, AMpere, or even where these stand in the Engineering sample roadmap since these scores and specs are from late last year. And as usual with any of those leaks, Caution is advised!

It looks likes like you better buy your SSD’s in the near future because according to a report from DigiTimes, the prices are about to skyrocket up 40% in 2020. Now usually, when we talk about price hikes in the NAND flash market, which has happened a lot over the last year or so, it’s industry analysts who make predictions. And most of those times, those predictions are a miss or not super accurate. This time though, the information seems to come directly from sources at memory chip makers which means its a lot more likely. I mean, about 2 days ago, Samsung suffered a minute long power outage which apparently damaged millions of dollars worth of Dram and Nand flash and that alone could cause a price hike. So, if you wanted to buy an SSD or some memory, now would be the best time to do so. And I’m not just saying this because of the possibility of a price hike, it’s also the cheapest we’ve seen memory in the last couple of years.
Moving to some AMD news, Hey, it’s inevitable, we have to talk about AMD ok.
Anyways, the company will be at CES 2020 and “ will push the envelope yet again to make 2020 an incredible year for high-performance computing." Their words, not mine, I’m not that much of a fanboy. According to a major Taiwanese newspaper AMD will likely share some details on the Zen 3 architecture during their presentation. That makes sense since according to AMD’s official roadmap, at least one product is slated for production in q3 of this year with zen3, I’m talking about the Epyc Milan processors. So What about desktop CPU’s ? Well, we’re still waiting on some details for the Threadripper 3990X with a whopping 64 cores, and according to some rumors, AMD might also introduce the 3980X at 48 cores. although the sources are pretty thin on that last one.
And for Ryzen mainstream processors, no info has really come out for CES 2020, but some speculations on performance increases have been floating around for Zen 3. Apparently, Zen 3 will offer a 50% increase in floating-point performance, and a 17% increase in IPC, although as with any speculation take this with a grain of salt. At least, Mark Papermaster, AMD’s CTO said during an interview with AnandTech this week, that AMD’s goal is to increase Single-core performance by at least 7% every 12 months. Given its a brand new architecture, we might get a very small teaser of Ryzen 4000 at CES but I highly doubt it.
Moving on to some more AMD news it looks like I have been Vindicated. Navi 12 is officially not BIG Navi. Ok not officially, but it’s been spotted on Compubench featuring a maximum of 36 compute units. It says 18 here, but has a dual compute unit layout so it means it has 36 individual ones. That’s for all of you who thought that my naming scheme logic

*Read pinned comment for update* Let’s get started with AMD, In a pretty interesting turn of events, it looks like they’re already discontinuing their RX 5700 series. Not the actual GPU line but their reference design is already in End of life. According to sources that spoke with CowCotLand, AMD stopped production of both the reference RX 5700 and the XT version in favor of the custom designs that will hit the market in a week or so.
I understand the decision since custom cards will most likely be priced at, or very close to the reference model but really? Removing a card design from production after a month of it being on the market ? That’s never been seen before. Powercolor already confirmed that their custom design for the rx 5700 XT will start at 399 but other companies like ASUS will push the price pretty high on their custom design. The RX 5700 XT Strix OC is is currently in pre order on Overclockers UK for 499. That’s about 100$ more than the reference design prices. At least you will have a choice.
Its still unclear if the anniversary edition will also be in end of life, but I dont see why not. As we discussed in a previous episode, Asus’s strix card is already clocked higher than AMD’s anniversary edition and discontinuing it would give it a more exclusive appeal. Blower cards are pretty much all hated, but there are certain circumstances where this design actually fits a build better since it doesn’t displace the hot air in the case at all. Wether a board partner will release a blower design is still a mystery but if really wanted to have a dented GPU, its now or never.

Let's get started with Nvidia. So, obviously, we’ve been covering pretty much everything when it comes to the next generation of GPU's. Every core count that was rumored, any TDP numbers that came up, but I’ve never really discussed the possible release windows of the RTX 4000 series.
Well, That’s because it was pretty much all over the place with different leakers giving us different date ranges. So, I decided to wait for a little while the dust settled and everyone agreed on the same timeframe. The early leaks pointed at a split release for the 3 top-tier cards. The rtx 4090, 4080, and 4070. So each card’s release would be spaced by a month, so that’s 4090 in august, 4080 in September and 4070 after that. Those are all of the launches for 2022. The 4060 would be a CES 2023 launch and of course, anything else would come after.
Now though, the consensus seems to be that those release dates have been pushed by a month. So the 4090 would come in September, 4080 in October, and the 4070 in November. The 4060 launch even would still be at CES. Of course, these release dates dont mean that the cards would be announced a month apart. Just like the 3000 series and the 2000 series before that, the top 3 cards could all be announced at the same time with the timeframe likely being in august. So yeah, there you go! An update on the 4000 series release dates.
Moving on, let’s talk about intel! The 13th generation of their core CPUs is right around the corner, and with the leaks that have been popping out, it looks like a beast. The latest of those leaks is a Sis software benchmark for the i9 13900. This should be a lower clocked, non-overclockable version of the chip. [...]

Let’s get started with Nvidia. As with any GPU releases, the reviews usually come a little earlier. For the RTX 3080, the original review embargo lift was on September 14th. Well, that embargo was actually pushed back to the day right before release. This means we’ll know on the 16th how the RTX 3080 will fare, and it will be officially available for purchase on the 17th.
But what about the RTX 3070? all Nvidia told us was that this sweet spot GPU would be available in October. Well, thanks to an Nvidia forum post, we now know that the card will be released in the center of October on the 15th.
Not just that, but apparently Nvidia has informed AIB’s that it wants the RTX 3060ti to also be released in October, this time in the second half. For the specs of the 3060 ti, here they are on screen. So no Supers.. We’re back to the TI branding now.
This means Nvidia will have released 4 cards before AMD even starts talking about their next generation of GPUs. With their prices being fairly adequate for the rumored performance, I wonder how many people will make the instant purchase after the reviews roll in.

The steam deck. You might have seen it pop up on your twitter feed or even on youtube and for a good reason. It’s like the switch pro we never got, except its a pc, but its also not… I guess we need to go deeper.. What is up guys im snows and this is your boot sequence. .
So, the steam deck, let’s run through it and see what valve cooked up for us. looking at the actual product physically, it has a 7 inch touchscreen similar to the new switch Oled, but in valve’s case, it’s a good old 60Hz LCD. The resolution of the screen is 1280 x 800 which is a little taller than 720p. The built-in controller is.. Well, I really don’t know what to think of it. It’s almost like everything is in a straight line, and I’m guessing you could use the trackpads as analog sticks if you’re an ex steam controller user, but once again, I think it’s a little too top-heavy for my taste. It has speakers, and a couple of extra grip buttons on the back.
But you’re probably more interested in the specs of this thing.

In AMD news we got yet another confirmation of the timeline for AMD’s next-generation CPU architecture. In a recent video posted on twitter, Lisa Su talked about the one year anniversary of the ryzen 3000 series for desktops and even shared a pretty weird anecdote. Did you know someone named their child Ryzen?
Anyways, at the end of the video which is clearly aimed at mainstream consumers, Lisa Su confirmed once again that Zen 3 is on track, that it’s looking great in the labs, and is that it’s coming later this year.
Also in AMD news, some Renoir chips have surfaced again, this time with some pricing info too. All of this information comes from twitter user Hifi hedgehog and as any leaks coming from a single source, it’s important to take it with a grain of salt.
First is the 4700G. Not only has the part been spotted with all of its specs, but an overclocked version has also been spotted from IT Cooker. The overclock brings the chip from its boost clock of 4.4Ghz up to 4.765Ghz. And an increase of a little over 7 percent. Now this doesn’t mean its an all-core boost since that’s usually not how Ryzen overclocking goes, but with CCX overclocking, and taking into consideration that this is a monolithic CPU, that would mean 4 of the 8 cores are reaching that speed.that’s pretty Impressive.
The next leak for the 4000 series of APU is the pricing. Now the pricing is not for the 4000G series, but rather for the Pro 4000G’s. Usually, these come at a small premium when compared to the non-pro versions.
Anyways, starting at the 6 core SKU, the Ryzen 3 Pro 4350G, which shares the same specs as the Ryzen 3 4200G, was found for 141 $ USD. the 6 core Ryzen 5 pro 4650G which shares the same specs as the 4400G was found for 204 USD and the 8 core Ryzen 7 pro 4750G was found for 302 Dollars.
