In this video I give my personal review of Rain Bird's spray head tool. This tool is very handy for working on the nozzles in the pop up spray heads. You can pull the stem of the head up and then clap the tool around it and it will hold it up. That way you can change out the nozzle or take it off to clean it out or flush the pipe. It works great. I would recommend this tool. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-N9wGxIEaY
When you are installing a irrigation sprinkler valve, make sure you always put a valve box over it. Never just bury the valve in the ground. Always put valves in valve boxes. You will need to get back to that valve for maintenance and repair.

When you notice a sprinkler head too low, you can use a riser extension to raise it up. The one you see here is a half inch riser extension that you can cut in three different places for three different heights depending on how high you need to raise the head. Be careful not to raise the sprinkler head too high to were it can be mowed off by a mower.

In this video I show you one of the best tips I've seen when using tape. The first time I saw a guy do this I thought it was a little ridiculous, but then I tried it and now I think it is genius.
The tape tip is, when you are finished using it, fold the end over to make a little tab. That way when you need to use it again you can peel it off easier. It might take two seconds to do, but will save you time and frustration with the next peace you want to tear off.

This video points out the first step to an irrigation sprinkler system design that you may not think about. In order to design a good irrigation system, you must first consult and study the landscape design. Or if it is an existing yard, know the landscape that is there and the correct water requirements for that landscape and lawn. A good professionally designed irrigation system will alway match that landscape and be design to water the landscape efficiently and effectively . And that starts with looking at the landscape plan first or knowing the landscape that is there and needs to be watered.

Please do not use this Y strainer before a double check backflow assembly. The Y strainer I show you in this video is made to be used on a drip zone on your sprinkler system. It is not meant to be under pressure all the time. It will eventually leak and is very prone to cracking, especially when it gets cold. So avoid using this Y strainer in this way. It would be better to use a brass Y strainer before the double check.

This is my # 1 tip when repairing a broken sprinkler head on a sprinkler system. I see this a lot and it is something that can be avoided with paying attention to this one thing.
How many times do you think this head has been hit by an edger??

If your sprinkler head is pressed all the way against the side walk or curb, it will get hit by an edger and break the head, causing a leak, wasting water and leaving a dry spot in you grass. This is a problem I see all the time, broken sprinkler heads hit by edgers, which can be avoided by installing the sprinkler head away from the hard surface, 4" by Texas regulations, or by moving it out upon repair.
