Final Fantasy XI #018, Konschtat and Valkurm: To White Mage Level 16

Previously, Heorot ventured to the Konschtat Highlands and reached Level 13 as a White Mage. Now, he will head back for some more leveling.
Heorot resumes at his Mog House in Bastok. In his delivery box, he gets back a chunk of Sweet Lizard that did not sell on the auction house. Well, I guess he can use it, then, eh? He heads out to the Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 1:01):
Heorot uses the nearby Home Point to teleport to the Bastok Markets.
Bastok Markets (time 1:22):
Heorot goes to Sororo's Scribe and Notary at H-5. From Sororo, he picks up a Scroll of Slow, usable by a White Mage or Red Mage at Level 13. He uses it to learn the White Magic spell Slow.
Afterwards, he heads back home.
Mog House (time 3:54):
At home, Heorot puts some items into his Mog Safe. Strange that Potions don't stack. When he is done, he heads back out.
Bastok Markets (time 4:31):
Heorot uses the nearby Home Point to return to the Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 4:50):
Heorot talks to Crying Wind, I.M., the conquest overseer at I-9 near the gate. He volunteers for a supplies quest. He chooses to deliver the supplies to the Gustaberg region. The Gustaberg Supplies go to the Outpost in North Gustaberg.
Heorot uses the nearby Survival Guide to teleport to the Outpost in North Gustaberg in the Gustaberg region.
North Gustaberg (time 7:06):
At the Outpost in North Gustaberg, Heorot delivers the Gustaberg Supplies to Shigezane, I.M., at D-10. That concludes this supplies quest. Heorot earns some conquest points.
Afterwards, he heads north towards the Konschtat Highlands. Along the way, a pair of Quadav unwisely jump him. Though I guess I was a little unwise for running around without my Trust NPCs ready!
Heorot exits to the Konschtat Highlands at E-7.
Konschtat Highlands (time 12:54):
After preparing, Heorot continues his training regime against Mist Lizards and Rock Eaters in the eastern clearing of Konschtat's Aulgung Pass.
From an Onyx Quadav, Heorot even earns a Quadav Fetich Head. He already has a Fetich Torso. So, before formally starting Bastok Mission 1-3, he already has half the items he items he needs for it. He will probably get started on the mission soon.
After he hits Level 15 as a White Mage, he ventures north to the Valkurm Dunes. The exit is at G-3 in the northwest.
Valkurm Dunes (time 44:32):
In the Valkurm Dunes, Heorot pays Windurst's conquest overseer to set his home point to the banner at L-11. At the Field Manual, he takes on the Page 1 training regime to take out 7 Hill Lizards and 1 Sand Hare.

This is video #097 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV for the PC. This is episode 15 of the third playthrough. I am playing on Hard mode.

Previously, the party went to the Feymarch. They challenged Asura and Leviathan so that Rydia could learn how to summon them. Then, the party entered the Sealed Cave in search of the last Crystal. They reached the save room on floor B2. Now, they will continue through the Sealed Cave.
Sealed Cave:
The party resumes in the save room on floor B2.
In the southwest of B2, they find another Trap Door blocking the way. After taking out the door, they continue to a connecting passage.
In the north of the passage, a chest contains an Ether.
The southwest exit leads to a second connecting passage. In the east of this passage, there are chests with a Hi-Potion and a Phoenix Down. There is a Trap Door in the northwest, but it leads to an empty room.
The southern exit leads to the top level of floor B3.
In the southeast of the top level of B3, there is another Trap Door. The room beyond is empty.
Cecil reaches Level 56. Edge reaches Level 54.
In the northeast of B3, a chest contains a Silent Bell.
In the north-central part of the area, the party takes a rope down to the lower level of B3.
To the east, there is another Trap Door.
Kain reaches Level 56. Rosa reaches Level 55 and learns the White Magic spell Arise.
In the room beyond the Trap Door, the western chest contains a Dry Ether. The northeast chest contains an X-Potion.
Rydia reaches Level 55 and learns the Black Magic spell Death.
In the west of the lower level of B3, a stairway leads to a connecting passageway with a save point. The party rests and saves.
Continuing south, the party arrives on floor B4. The floor is pretty simple.
In the middle of B4, the party continues downstairs to B5.
In the north of B5, the party finds the last Trap Door. Thank goodness.
Beyond is the Crystal Chamber. The party steps forward and takes the Dark Crystal. Now, they just have to leave.
After leaving the room, the party triggers a trap.
It is boss time against the Demon Wall! This is a race against time to defeat the Demon Wall before it reaches the party. Then, it will begin crushing them one by one. Haste on everyone and Berserk on the physical attackers will help a great deal.
At the end of the battle, Kain reaches Level 57. Rosa reaches Level 56. Cecil reaches Level 57. Rydia reaches Level 56. Edge reaches Level 55.
A brief scene takes place after the battle.
After the scene, the party starts out of the cave. Unfortunately, Teleport will not work.
The party ascends to floor B4. When they reach the next connecting passage, they save at the save point

Previously, Heorot continued training in Fei'Yin to earn Capacity Points. Now, he will continue doing so.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. In his mailbox, he receives gil for a stack of Wind Crystals, one of Lightning Crystals, and three of Light Crystals that sold on the auction house. Many thanks to the purchasers! Then, he goes outside.
Bastok Mines (time 1:07):
At the auction house, Heorot lists two stacks of Wind Crystals for sale. Then, he teleports to Home Point #1 in Fei'Yin, Fauregandi.
Fei'Yin (time 2:36):
Heorot arrives at K-8 on the first map in Fei'Yin. After summoning his alter ego NPCs, he sets out to defeat Balayang bats for Capacity Points.
Eventually, Heorot earns enough Capacity Points to accrue 1 Job Point. He will need 50 Job Points to equip the sword that he got. Ugh, this takes forever. But in terms of enemies that yield Capacity Points, Balayang are bottom of the barrel.
When Heorot has finished for now, he uses Home Point #1 at K-8 to return to Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 57:07):
Heorot visits Neigepance at the Chocobo Stables to unload some loot. At the auction house, he puts a stack of Wind Crystals up for sale. Then, he heads to the residential area.
Mog House (time 59:36):
Heorot signs off. Next time, he will continue grinding for Capacity Points.

Previously, the party continued exploring and questing in Byzantium. They explored the Maintenance Tunnels and rescued Giles Molina's lab sprats for the task quest "Cupid of the Laboratory". Then, they carried out Celeste Jolicoeur's task quest "Makes Space Suits, Won't Travel". It did not turn out well for her, but Davilas got a snazzy outfit. Now, the party will continue exploring and questing in Byzantium.
Byzantium:
The party resumes northwest of Prosperity Plaza in Byzantium. Across from the Halcyon Parcel Service, they enter the Bureau of Exploration.
Bureau of Exploration (time 1:18):
In the second room of the bureau, the party talks to Alonzo Vallejos. He offers the party a chance to try out a tour of Halcyon by locating the series of beacons. This starts the task quest "All Halcyon in a Day". The first objective is to find the first beacon. Alonzo gives the party the Tour Registration Device quest item to register the tour beacons. Sounds fun.
Upstairs in the Bureau of Exploration, the party checks an office and finds the Compass on a Chain quest item. They can find Lockwood's Office in the back of the floor. Within, they can find Lockwood's Papers, a quest item for a main quest along a branch that Davilas is not taking.
The party goes back downstairs and leaves the bureau.
Byzantium (time 8:21):
In the southeast of Prosperity Plaza, the party finds the first beacon in the grass in front of Rococo's Decor. The register it. This concludes the objective to find the first beacon for "All Halcyon in a Day". The next objective is to find the second beacon, which is in the Emerald Vale Region.
The party fast-travels to the Unreliable.
Unreliable (time 10:36):
Davilas uses the navigation terminal to fly the ship to the Edgewater Landing Pad on Terra 2. He fast-travels to the Emerald Vale Community Center with Parvati and Ellie.
Emerald Vale Region (time 12:12):
The second beacon is a short way northeast of the Abandoned Industrial Zone. It is guarded by Primals near some lava flows. One of the Primals is Gigantes, a named specimen. After eliminating the Primals, the party registers the beacon. This concludes the objective to find the second beacon for "All Halcyon in a Day". The next objective is to find the third beacon, which is on Scylla. At least there is a pretty view of the bay beyond Edgewater here.
The party fast-travels back to the Unreliable.

Previously, after unlocking the ability to set a support job, Heorot returned to Bastok and began leveling up the White Mage job. He got it all the way up to Level 9. Now, he will venture to the Konschtat Highlands for more leveling.
Heorot resumes at his Mog House in Bastok. Checking his delivery box, he receives wonderful payment for some of the crystals he put on auction. Someone must have really wanted a stack of Wind Crystals! Thank you, purchaser. When he is ready to go, he heads out to the Bastok Markets.
Bastok Markets (time 1:01):
In the markets, Heorot heads to Sororo's Scribe and Notary at H-5. From Sororo, he purchases a Scroll of Paralyna, usable by a Level 9 White Mage. He uses it to learn the White Magic spell Paralyna, which heals paralysis.
Afterwards, he heads back home for a moment.
Mog House (time 3:18):
At home, Heorot puts his Selbina Clay into storage. Personal inventory starts out so darn limited in this game, even compared to other MMOs.
Bastok Markets (time 3:50):
After teleporting closer to the West Gate, Heorot heads out to South Gustaberg.
South Gustaberg (time 4:37):
Heorot heads west from town. In the Fumaroles, he fights Maneating Hornets so he can wrap up a training regime to take out members of the bee family. In the process, he reaches Level 10 as a White Mage.
He moves on and takes the northwestern exit at E-7/E-6 to North Gustaberg.
North Gustaberg (time 16:00):
In the west part of North Gustaberg, Heorot heads north towards Konschtat Highlands. It is nice to see that the Republic of Bastok has regained control of its home region. Heorot sets his home point to the banner at E-7.
Then, he exits northwest at E-7 to the Konschtat Highlands in the Zulkheim region.
Konschtat Highlands (time 23:27):
In the Konschtat Highlands, Heorot treks to the Field Manual at F-11. He assumes Page 3's training regime to defeat 3 Rock Eaters and 3 Mist Lizards per session. He heads to the eastern clearing in the Aulgung Pass to find these beasties, notably the Rock Eaters. He even survives a trio of linking Mist Lizards. He also takes on the occasional Quadav.
Heorot eventually reaches Level 13 as a White Mage. In the process, he gets some more decent loot from the coffers that he succeeds in unlocking, including a Linen Robe equippable by many mage jobs at Level 12.
When he is done for now, Heorot heads to the Survival Guide at G-3 and teleports to the Bastok Mines in Bastok.
Bastok Mines (time 1:00:57):

Previously, Link escorted Telma, Ilia, and Prince Ralis from Castle Town to Kakariko Village so that Renado can heal Ralis. The late Queen Rutela rewarded Link with the Zora Armor, which allows him to stay underwater indefinitely. Then, at Barnes Bombs, Link picked up some Water Bombs, which can be used underwater. With them, he found a secret one-way route from the Graveyard to Lake Hylia. Then, Link began hunting Golden Bugs again. He found the Mantises in the Great Bridge of Hylia area and the Butterflies on the plain west of Castle Town. He delivered a couple more bugs to Agitha. For giving her a total of 12, he received the Agitha Stamp. Now, he will explore the northern part of Hyrule for more optional, useful stuff.
Castle Town:
Link resumes in the Castle Town Central Square. He takes the western exit from town.
Hyrule Field (time 1:09):
After taking out the Bulblins in the area, Link follows the road to the northern part of Hyrule Field in Lanayru Province.
Near the southwestern road split, Link finds a Golden Bug in the tree northeast of the intersection. He pulls it down with the Gale Boomerang and picks up the Male Stag Beetle.
Link rides east to the river cutting through this area. On the riverbed just south of the big bridge, he finds a boulder. He blows it up with a Water Bomb for about thirty-one Rupees.
At the southern end of the river, there is an enclosed area just north of the watergate. Link sinks into the enclosure with the Iron Boots and finds a chest with the stamp for the Hylian letter F.
Link returns to Epona and rides back to the western part of the zone. Just north of the split, a higher road runs southwest to some boulders. Link blasts the boulders. This opens up a bypass that runs directly towards Lake Hylia. Some thirty Rupees are left when the boulders are gone, so Link picks them up.
Link rides northeast into the mountainous northern section. At another split, he takes the lower route to the east. He comes to an open area guarded by a Tektite. There is a blocked-up cave entrance on the western side of this valley. Above this cave entrance, he finds another Golden Bug. If it is flying around, it is easier to see at night. Link pulls it down with the Gale Boomerang and picks up the Female Stag Beetle.
Afterwards, Link heads to the northern end of the area, which Tektites and Bulblins guard. Boulders block the northern exit. Link blasts the boulders with a Water Bomb and continues north on foot.

Previously, the party wrapped up the hero quest "Side Story: Taion" and saved the Lost Colony in Erythia Sea, Cadensia Region, from Moebius V's invasion. Completing this quest raised the rank cap for Tactician to 20. When the party had visited Colony Lambda to start this quest, they picked up some info fragments, so now they will work on a few Colony Lambda quests.
The party resumes in Colony Lambda, Pentelas Region. At the Lambda Canteen, they discuss "Bountiful Ether", which they learned during video #082. This starts the standard quest "Surplus Supply".
In the east, the party talks to Koji for a long conversation. They exhaust his dialogue options. The bottom option in each selection list seems to advance the conversation.
Afterwards, the party talks to the Lambda Traderpon in the west of Colony Lambda.
Next, they skip travel to the Ruins of Seebu Camp in the Urayan Tunnels. They talk to Zoka near the rest area.
Then, the party skip travels back to Colony Lambda. They approach Koji in the east for a cutscene. "Surplus Supply" complete!
At the Lambda Canteen, the party discusses "Colony Lambda Defenses", which they also learned during video #082. This starts the standard quest "New Developments".
The party talks to Varen at the Cave Mouth for a scene.
Next, they skip travel to the Old Way Camp in the Old Cliffside Way. They approach Varen northwest of the camp for a scene.
Then, they skip travel to Myma Gate in the east of the Urayan Tunnels. They approach Varen to the west for a scene.
Afterwards, the party skip travels to the Aquifer Exhaust in the Great Cotte Falls. They approach Varen nearby for another scene.
They skip travel back to the Old Way Camp in the Old Cliffside Way. They approach Tonya to the northwest for another scene.
Then, the party skip travels back to Colony Lambda. They talk to Varen at the Cave Mouth for a scene. "New Developments" complete!
In the northwest of the colony, the party learns the info "Moraine and Shijima".
At the Canteen, they discuss "Moraine and Shijima". This starts the standard quest "Duty".
In the east of the colony, the party talks to Moraine for a scene. Trouble is on the way.
Next, they enter the Commander's Office on the Clearwater Shelf in the northeast for a scene with Rosh and Tulgrim.
Then, the party goes to the Cave Mouth for a scene with Tonya. Out in Great Cotte Falls in front of Colony Lambda, they must defeat the Agnus Assault Team, which consists of 11 enemies that attack in waves. Three Levnises are in the last wave.
Afterwards, the party talks to Rosh nearby for a cutscene.
The party returns to Colony Lambda. They approach the Lambda Canteen for a cutscene.
Then, on the Clearwater Shelf in the northeast, the party approaches Rosh for another scene.
The party skip travels to Titan Rock Camp above the colony in Great Cotte Falls. To the northeast, they take out the Agnus Assault Team, which has two soldiers and a Gyrinus. A scene takes place after the battle.
Next, the party skip travels back to Colony Lambda. They enter the Commander's Office on the Clearwater Shelf for a cutscene. Someone sure picked an extreme way to make a point. "Duty" complete!
The party sets Isurd as their current Hero and levels him up with bonus EXP at the Lambda Shelter. Isurd's next hero quest is now available on Clearwater Shelf, but there is some preparation the party should do before undertaking it.
Next time, the party will continue questing.

In this episode, I set up my settings and then start a new game.
New Game Start (time 1:17):
I'm playing this game for enjoyment, so I'm going with Normal difficulty. Then, the opening scenes begin playing. We meet an important character, Phineas Welles.
A few minutes in, I create my character, Davilas. There are a lot of skill options in this game. There are a lot of appearance modifications available, considering this game is played in first person.
Then, the excitement begins. Poor Dr. Welles is not having a good day.
Terra 2 - Emerald Vale Region (time 11:15):
The next scene takes place as Davilas's escape pod descends to the Emerald Vale Region on planet Terra 2. It looks like the smuggler he was supposed to meet is having a bad day, too.
As Davilas gains control, the player earns the trophy "Welcome to Halcyon" just for landing in Emerald Vale. Davilas starts the main quest "Stranger in a Strange Land". The first objective is to find Hawthorne's ship. There is a lot of useful tutorial information in the main menu, and the player can save just about anywhere.
The objective markers lead the player by the nose, and there are tutorials for navigating the game world if the player has them turned on.
In a tunnel, Davilas meets the injured Guard Pelham. With the right dialogue options, he will give the player some Light Ammo, a Light Pistol, and a Sentry Sabre. Davilas doesn't feel too sure about the company named Spacer's Choice, though. He can find some items, including a Mag Pick needed for lockpicking.
Davilas must shoot a barrel to leave Pelham's tunnel, but he should not stand too close, or the explosion will hurt him. As he proceeds, he is introduced to Tactical Time Dilation. The player can slow down time to plan the next action.
Beyond the tunnel, Davilas encounters Marauders. Marauders are pretty much always hostile, but the player can sneak up on them. Enemy corpses can be looted for weapons, armor, ammunition, money, and other loot. The currency of the game world is Bits. As in Elder Scrolls games, there are lots of things to find in the game world. A lot of treasure chests require Mag Picks and a certain lockpicking skill level.
Near Hawthorne's ship, Davilas meets a security officer named Lieutenant Mercer. He can persuade her to help take out the Marauders around the ship. He can also go it alone.
Upon arrival, Davilas enters Hawthorne's ship, the Unreliable.

This is video #051 in my Final Fantasy VII playthrough. With Dyne's death, the ringleader in Corel Prison, Mr. Coates, introduces Cloud to a Chocobo race manager, Ester. In the Chocobo Racing lounge, be sure to pick up that Ramuh materia. Then, it's time for the race!
During the race, you can use Select to put the chocobo on manual control. Hold down the R1 and R2 buttons to keep the chocobo's stamina gauge from depleting, and hold the Square button to accelerate to top speed. Don't worry about any of the fool chocobos that zip past you during the first part of the race, they'll just be wasting their stamina. When you have gone past the large oysters and the rainbow-colored tunnel, hold the Circle button to dash to the end. You shouldn't have any problem winning this race.
When the race is won, the party is free and gets a very useful gift to boot: the buggy. It will allow the party to ford rivers and cross the Corel Desert. There are many side things available now.

Previously, Heorot continued grinding in Escha - Ru'Aun. He has earned a total of 258 Job Points as Red Mage. In this video, he will do some more Job Point grinding as Red Mage in Escha - Ru'Aun.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. In his delivery box, he receives gil for a stack of Water Crystals and three Plutons that sold at auction. Many thanks to the buyers!
Then, Heorot heads out to Bastok Mines.

Heorot teleports to Misareaux Coast, Tavnazian Archipelago.
Misareaux Coast (time 1:39):
Heorot arrives at Home Point #1 at G-5. Up the hill, he examines the Undulating Confluence at G-5 to enter Escha - Ru'Aun.
Escha - Ru'Aun (time 2:17):
Heorot arrives at H-11. After summoning his Trust NPCs, he hunts some more Eschan Il'aern in this zone.
Heorot accrues 2 Job Points for an overall total of 260 Job Points earned. He has a current total of 8 Job Points.
When he has finished for now, he uses the Undulating Confluence at H-11 to return to Misareaux Coast, Tavnazian Archipelago.
Misareaux Coast (time 57:02):
Heorot arrives at G-5. Just down the hill to the west, he uses Home Point #1 at G-5 to teleport to Port Jeuno.
Port Jeuno (time 57:37):
Heorot trades his Crests to Shami at H-8 for storage.
Then, he teleports to Bastok Markets.
Bastok Markets (time 59:25):
Heorot trades his Copper A.M.A.N. Voucher to Isakoth at E-11. In Mjoll's Goods, he sells his loot to Olwyn at E-11.
Then, Heorot teleports to Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 1:01:08):
At the auction house, Heorot puts a chunk of Eschite Ore and three Plutons up for sale.
Then, Heorot enters the residential area.

Heorot signs off. Next time, he will continue grinding.
