Final Fantasy IV [PC] Playthrough #012, Mythril; Agart; Hunt for Royal Pudding
This is video #012 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV for the PC.

Previously, the party defeated Cagnazzo, the archfiend of water, in Baron Castle. They met Cid, but unfortunately, the twins had to petrify themselves to save the rest of the party. The party gained the use of the Enterprise. Their next mission is to retrieve the crystal from Troia. The party acquired some more augments and then visited the town of Troia. Now, they will visit a couple of locations that are currently optional.
Overworld:
The party resumes outside the town of Troia. They board the Enterprise and fly to the town of Mythril, which is on an island between Fabul and Mount Ordeals.
Mythril (time 1:05):
The town of Mythril is home to sapient gnomes, frogs, and pigs. As the name indicates, the town's industry is focused on mythril. There are a few hidden things to find.
Southwest of the inn, a Diet Ration is hidden among the flowers.
In the southeast of town, a well contains a Maiden's Kiss.
In the northeast of town, there is a hidden container with a Mythril Staff just east of the end of the path.
By the fence just east of the armory, a hidden container holds a Mythril Knife.
The weapon and armor shops have mythril gear available. Decent but pricey. I recommend giving it a pass.
Behind a bush at the southeast corner of the item shop, the party finds 5,000 gil.
The item shop stocks Maiden's Kisses, Mallets, and Diet Rations. There are also attack items.
After exploring, the party leaves town.
Overworld (time 7:50):
The party boards the Enterprise. West of Mythril and south of Baron, they find a town by a mountain. This is Agart.

Agart is home to people that claim dwarven ancestry. There is an Observatory in the southwest of town. There are strange things happening in space, it seems. Could this have something to do with the story?
The party explores the town in search of hidden items.
Behind a bush in the valley west of the central well, the party finds a hidden Phoenix Down. Just to the north, there is a hidden Potion.
Behind a bush in the north of the western valley, there is a hidden Cottage.
In the southwest of the town's northern plateau, there is a hidden Hi-Potion among the flowers and bushes.
There are weapon and armor shops in the northeast of town. Unfortunately, they sell nothing I care about.
There is a house in the valley north of the well. South of the southeast corner of the house, there is an Antarctic Wind hidden in the bushes. Behind the large bush west of the house, there is a hidden Gaia Drum. This casts the Quake spell when used as an item in battle. Tellah will put it to excellent use in the future.

Previously, the party began exploring the Ribbi Flats south of the Eagus Wilderness in the Fornis Region. After they poked into the Dannagh Desert to the east a little bit, they explored the Sparres Barr in Ribbi Flats. While there, they defeated the Perspicacious Oldar unique monster. They also explored the Tonic Waters and Magglia Lake southwest of Ribbi Flats. Now, they will begin exploring the higher layers of Ribbi Flats.
The party resumes at the Llyn Nyddwr Camp in Ribbi Flats. They skip travel to Magglia Lake and begin going west up the slope to the lake's south. A story scene takes place when they reach the next plateau.
After the scene, they discover the Laprel Knoll location. To the north, they find a device that lowers a ladder to the Tonic Waters. Look out for Level 45-ish beasties to the northwest.
The party bears southwest onto the next higher plateau. They find a Supply Drop. Farther west, they find the Shikashaka Mesa landmark.
From the Supply Drop, the party drops north to the lower plateau for a Soldier's Husk. Farther northeast, there is an Ether Channel.
The party skip travels back to Shikashaka Mesa. Southwest of the mesa, they find a Container. There is some kind of tightrope west of the mesa, but I haven't figured out how these work yet.
The party also encounters the Unruffled Narrah, a unique Armu, near the mesa. It is quite ruffled when the party is done with it.
The party next ventures east along the story path up the knoll. South of the path, they find a Container on a ledge over the lake.
They reach the Igno Viaduct landmark, a land bridge over Magglia Lake. After going northeast across it, they reach the Caitlin Drum location. This plateau is over the area north of the lake.
Not far northeast of the viaduct, the party finds a Soldier's Husk.
Farther northeast, the party finds a Container between Magglia Lake and Llyn Nyddwr. Closer to Llyn Nyddwr, there is an Ether Channel.
In the northeast, the party finds a tunnel. It leads them to the Sage's Balcony location on the plateau northeast of Llyn Nyddwr.
At the southeast end of the Sage's Balcony, there is a Soldier's Husk. There is an Ether Channel to the west. At the northeast end, there is a Container overlooking the Dannagh Desert.
The party returns to the Caitlin Drum. To the southeast, they discover the Terra Wastelands.
North of the Terra Wastelands and east of the Caitlin Drum, the party finds the Grun Slope location. In the west of this plateau, they find an Ether Channel.
In the northeast, the party finds a Container.
The party finds the Colony 30 location in the southeast of Grun Slope's upper level. However, there appears to be no entry right now, not that I'm complaining.
The party goes back down to the Terra Wastelands. On a ledge in the north, they find a Soldier's Husk. They find another on a ledge in the northeast.
In the southeast, they find the Tirkin Headquarters landmark. They will pester the Tirkins later.
West of Tirkin Headquarters, there is an Ether Channel.
There is a Container in a depot in the west of the Terra Watelands.
The party has the materials to register Yorde of Colony 4's Collectopaedia Card.
The party returns to Caitlin Drum. They continue west along the ledge south of Magglia Lake and discover the Elsie's Spout landmark.
As the party reaches the story target, a scene takes place. Interesting situation. The Hero Quest "The Kind Right Hand" begins.
After the scene, it is boss time against the Mystery Keves Unit. The leader is the Strange Keves Soldier. He is flanked by two Velites, which can easily be taken out first. My party is a tad over-leveled for this encounter.
Another scene takes place after this battle. The party meets Valdi of Colony 30. This situation is getting stranger and stranger!
Valdi temporarily joins the party as a Hero. He functions as a Healer. The next objectives are to find a Levnis Endoskeleton, a Levnis Self-Charger, and a Levnis Auxiliary CPU for him. Looks like this quest is required for the main story.
Next time, the party will continue "The Kind Right Hand" and the story.

Previously, Heorot continued grinding in Escha - Ru'Aun. He has earned a total of 149 Job Points as Red Mage. In this video, he will do some more Job Point grinding as Red Mage in Escha - Ru'Aun.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. He picks up a couple Merit Point upgrades. In his delivery box, he receives gil for two Riftborn Boulders, an Ice Cluster, a Dark Cluster, and a chunk of Eschite Ore that sold at auction. Many thanks to the buyers!
Then, he heads out to Bastok Mines.

Heorot teleports to Misareaux Coast, Tavnazian Archipelago.
Misareaux Coast (time 2:10):
Heorot arrives at Home Point #1 at G-5. Up the hill, he defeats an Air Elemental for a Wind Cluster.
Afterwards, he examines the Undulating Confluence at G-5 to enter Escha - Ru'Aun.
Escha - Ru'Aun (time 3:52):
Heorot arrives at H-11. After summoning his Trust NPCs, he hunts some more Eschan Il'aern in this zone.
Heorot accrues 1 Job Point for an overall total of 150 Job Points earned. He has a current total of 5 Job Points.
When he has finished for now, he uses the Undulating Confluence at H-11 to return to Misareaux Coast, Tavnazian Archipelago.
Misareaux Coast (time 1:02:58):
Heorot arrives at G-5. Just down the hill to the west, he uses Home Point #1 at G-5 to teleport to Port Jeuno.

Heorot trades his Crests to Shami at H-8 for storage.
Then, he teleports to Bastok Markets.

Heorot trades his Copper A.M.A.N. Voucher to Isakoth at E-11. In Mjoll's Goods, he sells his loot to Olwyn at E-11.

Previously, Heorot traveled north from Bastok to Selbina and then to West Ronfaure. Now, he will explore San d'Oria and carry out the quest "Trust: San d'Oria" to recruit another Trust NPC.
West Ronfaure:
Heorot resumes near San d'Oria in West Ronfaure. At I-6, he goes through the gate into Southern San d'Oria.
San d'Oria: Southern San d'Oria (time 0:21):
The Kingdom of San d'Oria definitely has that medieval feel. Heorot starts by exploring Southern San d'Oria to find the zone's Home Points.
At L-6 in the northeast of the zone, Heorot speaks with an Elvaan named Gondebaud. Gondebaud is also involved in the Trust initiative. He issues the quest "Trust: San d'Oria". Heorot must now speak with Excenmille at the Ranperre Gate in the west of Northern San d'Oria. Gondebaud gives him a temporary key item, the Red Institute Card.
At I-7, Heorot exits north to Northern San d'Oria.
Northern San d'Oria (time 6:34):
Heorot continues examining Home Points in Northern San d'Oria. Near Ranperre Gate in the west, Heorot also finds a Survival Guide at E-7/E-8.
At D-9, Heorot finds Excenmille M Aurchiat. A scene takes place. He is not lacking for confidence, is he? Heorot learns the Trust spell Excenmille. Since he has already carried out another Trust quest, Heorot also earns a permanent key item, the San d'Oria Trust Permit. "Trust: San d'Oria" complete! If you had not completed a Trust quest before, you would have to leave town and summon Excenmille before completing the quest.
After tagging the rest of the Home Points in Northern San d'Oria, Heorot takes the exit at F-3 to Port San d'Oria.
Port San d'Oria (time 15:39):
In Port San d'Oria, Heorot finishes finding the city's Home Points.
At J-8 in the west, Heorot finds Regine's Magicmart. The selection is a different from the selection at Sororo's Scribe and Notary in Bastok. Under White Magic, Heorot picks up a Scroll of Cure II and a Scroll of Aquaveil. Under Black Magic, he picks up a Scroll of Poison and a Scroll of Bio. He uses these scrolls to learn their spells.
After Heorot has finished examining all the Home Points in Port San d'Oria, he teleports to Home Point #1 in Northern San d'Oria.
Northern San d'Oria (time 23:07):
Now, Heorot will get started towards Windurst, which will be another long trip. He uses the Survival Guide at E-8 to teleport to Valkurm Dunes in the Zulkheim region. He spends 50 tabs to pay for the trip.

Heorot arrives at the Outpost in Valkurm Dunes. He heads south into Selbina at G-9.

Previously, Heorot continued training in Fei'Yin to earn Capacity Points. Now, he will continue doing so.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. In his mailbox, he receives gil for a stack of Wind Crystals, one of Lightning Crystals, and three of Light Crystals that sold on the auction house. Many thanks to the purchasers! Then, he goes outside.
Bastok Mines (time 1:07):
At the auction house, Heorot lists two stacks of Wind Crystals for sale. Then, he teleports to Home Point #1 in Fei'Yin, Fauregandi.
Fei'Yin (time 2:36):
Heorot arrives at K-8 on the first map in Fei'Yin. After summoning his alter ego NPCs, he sets out to defeat Balayang bats for Capacity Points.
Eventually, Heorot earns enough Capacity Points to accrue 1 Job Point. He will need 50 Job Points to equip the sword that he got. Ugh, this takes forever. But in terms of enemies that yield Capacity Points, Balayang are bottom of the barrel.
When Heorot has finished for now, he uses Home Point #1 at K-8 to return to Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 57:07):
Heorot visits Neigepance at the Chocobo Stables to unload some loot. At the auction house, he puts a stack of Wind Crystals up for sale. Then, he heads to the residential area.
Mog House (time 59:36):
Heorot signs off. Next time, he will continue grinding for Capacity Points.

Previously, Heorot did some leveling as Black Mage in the Inner Horutoto Ruins and reached Level 87. In this video, he will do some more Job Point grinding as Red Mage in Escha - Ru'Aun. So far, he has earned a total of 286 Job Points as Red Mage.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. In his delivery box, he receives gil for a stack of Earth Crystals that sold at auction. Many thanks to the buyer! Heorot changes his main job to Level 99 Red Mage with White Mage as support job.
Then, Heorot heads out to Port Bastok.

Heorot talks to the Greeter Moogle at J-12. He spends 1,000 login points for a new Facility Ring.

Previously, Link returned to Windfall Island and learned the Song of Passing. Then, he sailed south from Dragon Roost Island and reached the Forest Haven. He freed the Deku Tree from a ChuChu infestation and earned the Korok Leaf. He will need this to enter the Forbidden Woods and save Makar, a lost Korok. He also opened up the Nintendo Gallery, which will turn pictographs of most NPCs and enemies into figurines. In this video, Link will photograph the NPCs in the Forest Haven and Dragon Roost Island for the Nintendo Gallery.
Forest Haven:
Link resumes at the boat landing on Forest Haven's main island. Along the way to the Deku Tree's grove, he takes pictographs of a Boko Baba and an Octorok.
In the Deku Tree's grove, Link takes pictographs of the NPCs present. This is a good time to photograph the Koroks. After Link completes the Forbidden Woods, most of the Koroks will scatter to other islands.
Naturally, the Great Deku Tree is one NPC. Linder is outside the door to Hollo's Forest Potion Shop. Hollo, of course, is in the shop. Drona is flying around near ground level behind the Great Deku Tree. To the Great Deku Tree's right, Oakin is by the Baba Bud at ground level. Aldo is just in front of the Great Deku Tree.
Irch is on the treetops just behind the Great Deku Tree. Rown is by the southwestern exit, which leads towards the Forest Haven. Note that Link can cut the grass here for magic refills.
Link takes the southwestern exit. A scene shows the forbidding Forbidden Woods.
Up the ledge just ahead, Link photographs and talks to Elma. Elma provides critical information about wind direction.
Then, Link conducts the Wind's Requiem and makes the wind blow southwest. He glides southwest to a tiny island. There, he finds and photographs Olivio. Olivio has important information on reaching the Forbidden Woods. However, Link will not be going there just yet; his Deluxe Picto Box is full of pictures.
Link conducts the Wind's Requiem and makes the wind blow northeast. Then, he glides back to Forest Haven's main island and lands on the western ledge. He cuts through the Great Deku Tree's grove and makes his way to the boat landing. He boards the King of Red Lions and goes to the Nintendo Gallery.
In the Nintendo Gallery, Link goes to Carlov. He shows him all twelve of the pictographs in his Deluxe Picto Box. Carlov can work on a maximum of twelve figurines at once.
Afterwards, Link takes a picture of Carlov. Then, he surfaces. He conducts the Song of Passing twice to advance time one day.

We are currently grinding in previous tales in preparation for The Crystals. Previously, Edward and Harley continued leveling in Edward's Tale. Edward and Harley are at Level 31. The three Guards are at Level 20.
Overworld:
The party resumes outside the town of Baron. They continue running around and hunting monsters. The three Guards knock themselves out again so that Edward and Harley can continue gaining experience more quickly.
Edward reaches Level 32.

Previously, Edward went to the Antlion's Den and retrieved the Sand Pearl. In Kaipo, he used it to cure Harley of her desert fever. Then, they finally sailed to Baron and spoke with Cecil, but Cecil does not seem to be himself. Fortunately, Edward was not fooled. On the other hand, he witnessed Leviathan attacking Yang's ship! Thus concluded Edward's Tale. Now, we will start on Porom's Tale.
From the title screen, we begin our fifth chapter, Porom's Tale: The Vanished Lunar Whale.
Mysidia (time 0:47):
The opening scenes begin in Mysidia. Ah, that troublesome Palom!
After the scenes, we gain control of young Porom in Mysidia. Porom starts at Level 10. She comes with a Healing Staff, a Feathered Cap, Leather Clothing, and an Iron Armlet. She starts with the White Magic spells Hold, Slow, Libra, Cure, Sight, Raise, and Cura.
Porom must find her wayward brother, Palom. She can explore the town, but she cannot leave, and none of the shops sells anything for the moment.
Palom's first hiding place is south of the weapon shop in the southwest of town. When Porom talks to him, he runs off again.
Palom's second hiding place is south of the item shop in the southeast of town. He runs off yet again.
Palom's last hiding place is east of the Devil's Road. Porom finally talks him into coming back to the Elder. He has decided he wants to be a sage, just like Tellah.
Ship (time 14:38):
A few years later, we join Porom and Palom aboard a ship sailing for Kaipo. Palom is pretty serious about this sage thing. Well, we'll see!
Kaipo Docks (time 18:44):
Another scene takes place when they arrive at the Kaipo Docks.
Overworld (time 19:30):
We gain control of Porom and Palom just outside the Kaipo Docks in the Damcyan Desert. Palom starts at Level 10. He comes with a Flame Rod, a Feathered Cap, Leather Clothing, and an Iron Armlet. He starts with the Black Magic spells Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, Sleep, Poison, Blizzara, Fira, Thundara, and Break. Palom and Porom start with the Twincast band, which is already at max level.
The party reenters the Kaipo Docks.
Kaipo Docks (time 20:19):
They check around and talk with the one NPC. There doesn't seem to be anything to find, so they soon leave.
Overworld (time 20:36):
Due west of the Kaipo Docks, the party finds the oasis town of Kaipo.
Kaipo (time 20:56):
A scene takes place as the twins arrive in Kaipo.
After the scene, they explore town. At the weapon shop, they pick up a Bow and a quiver of Iron Arrows. Palom equips them. With an allowance

In this video, we start the game. During the setup, we can activate some Draconian Quest options, but I leave them off. I might turn some on if the game is released in English. My protagonist is an adult male named Heorot. His sibling is a younger sister named Carolyn.
Opening Scene (time 5:20):
When the characters have been created, an opening scene takes place in Eterne Village.
Eterne Village (time 8:55):
After the scene, Heorot gains control in his house in Eterne Village. He comes equipped with Eterne gear: a sword, a shirt with bracelets, and pants with boots. He starts as a Level 1 Apprentice.
Heorot examines the door to go outside. A scene provides an overview of the village.
Heorot talks to Talara, the woman outside his house. The pink icon over her head indicates that she has story information. It sounds like little Carolyn has caused a bit of a blow-up. Heorot's next destination is Lady Aba's house in the southwest of town.
Heorot obtains a Medicinal Herb (やくそう) from a pot outside his house. Pot and barrel treasure may be randomized like it is in the original game.
Heorot checks the item shop in the northeast of town. A few upgrades are available.
Heorot obtains 6 gold from a pot at the southeast corner of the item shop.
He goes to the workshop south of the item shop. A bookshelf contains a map tutorial. A red chest in the north contains 27 gold.
Heorot checks a barrel southwest of the workshop for a Medicinal Herb.
He checks a pot behind a boulder south of his house for a Medicinal Herb.
Inak on the bridge to Aba's house has story info.
In the northwest section of town, there is a red chest at the southeast corner of the southern building, the waterwheel house. The chest contains 52 gold.
He checks barrels southwest of the waterwheel house for 7 gold and a Medicinal Herb.
In the southwest part of town, Heorot finds a Medicinal Herb and 9 gold in the pots.
At Aba's house, he checks a pot in the south of the exterior deck for a Single Phial (まほうの小ピン).
Heorot enters Aba's house. Heorot checks the barrels in the northeast room for a Single Phial and 5 gold.
The door to Aba's room in the south is locked.
Heorot enters the northwestern room. A bookshelf has information about Lord Kame, the turtle.
Heorot talks to Shini in the northwestern room and agrees to help him. Shini sends Heorot to get items from the two buildings in the northwest of town.
Heorot leaves the house and goes to the northwest of town. In the waterwheel house to the south, he talks to Nei. She gives him the Fluffy Chaff (フカフカのもみガラ) key item.
In the house north of the waterwheel house, Heorot talks to Nora. She gives him the Dried Poppy Grass (干しどくけし草) key item.
Heorot returns to Lady Aba's house in the southwest. He talks to Shini and hands over the two items. This triggers a scene. The next destination is Aba's room.
Heorot examines the door to Aba's room. This triggers a cutscene with Aba and Shini. Heorot must find his sister, Carolyn, and return to Aba with her.
After the scene, Shini has story info.
Heorot enters Aba's room. He finds a red chest with a Medicinal Herb.
Heorot leaves Aba's house. Near his house, Miyak has story info.
Heorot goes to the item shop. He picks up a Copper Sword for 50 gold and a Leather Shield for 50 gold and equips them. He sells his old Eterne Sword.
Heorot exits north to the Nurturing Land.
