Game of The Year 2018 | Iconoclasts - 4th Place
Coming in at 4th place is Iconoclasts from Joakim Sandberg (@konjak - twitter)
This was one of the first games of the year that I was really excited about and one of the first games of the year that I played. I liked it so much that I even made a First Cut episode for it back then which you can check out here: https://youtu.be/gFJjU76i8Ks
This title is an enthralling adventure of one mechanics descent into throws of corruption, religious cults and conflicted pasts of the characters around her. While not perfect, I found myself enjoying the ups and downs of the game's story
The gameplay is perhaps one of them most enrapturing as it flows in a way that few games of this style manage to pull off successfully. It becomes incredibly easy to find yourself in a state of zen as you jump, shoot, and swing from obstacle to obstacle.
It's a fantastic adventure that I'd recommend to anyone that is a fan of 2D action platformers with Metroidvania elements.
