Normally, because my videos are simple, inconsequential and fun (at least for me) I use Shotcut - a simple and free program - for my editing.
But today I found this old footage and wasn't able to make it look any good in Shotcut (the unskilled need presets you know). So I did this in Premier Pro Creative Cloud.
Like with most things I either need to play with PPCC more often or not at all.
For me, having grown up at the time and feeling that Carter might have been the last President to sling less corporatist bullshit than anyone in the Reagan/post Reagan Era, this speech was of special interest. It was a President asking for people to sacrifice, not to shop, for the benefit of the country.
You are welcome to argue that point below.
But what I hope you don't argue is that due to the technology of the time, the quality of this video left a lot to be desired. There was a constant hum or background sound which was most distracting and annoying.
Also, the video quality left something to be disired - at least by today's standards.
I've taken the liberty of applying noise reduction and, to make up for the loss of some tones due to this, I have done a quick EQ to step up the recording. For the video, I have applied a little Technicolor to give Carter some color (the green curtain behind him made him look ill - and who puts an almost pastel curtain behind someone anyhow????) and adjusted the levels.

For possible ideas to address the American gender wars. When reason fails go for stupid.
Currently, women hate men and men hate women. I think I have done workable, albeit sort of insane ideas on how to deal with this.
All of these ideas would be workable if we put it shoulders to the wheel.
Fuck it - if we could market pop rocks and build the interstate roads system there is no reason we can't make one it more of my ideas work.
