PARLIAMENT PASSES THE NARCOTICS AND PSYCHOTROPIC CONTROL BILL 2023
Parliament has passed the Narcotics and Psychotropic Control Bill 2023 which among others saves Ugandans from consuming illicit drugs.
The bill containing 94 clauses provides for a fine to a tunes of shillings 10 million or 10 years’ imprisonment on conviction of possession of any illicit drug including Narcotic and psychotropic substance.
Efforts by a section of MPs to save Khat commonly known as Mairungi from the list of prohibited plants was futile as the cultivation can only be done after a license by the Minister for Health.
