The National Ranching Heritage Center has been a great place to visit for over 50 years, but its latest addition makes it even better. They have renovated to add a new learning and discovery area - the Cash Family Ranch Life Learning Center featuring Hank the Cowdog. It's an amazing educational space where you will learn how cows get nutrition from grass, discover careers in the cattle industry, explore the equipment used by cowboys, get hands on interaction with displays including a simulation of managing your own ranch, and so much more. Join us as we visit this new exhibit area and the rest of this facility dedicated to educating the public on the history and importance of ranch life and the cattle industry. We had a ball and we hope that you like what you see so much, you will want to visit, too. Today's homeschool roadschool adventure took us to Oklahoma Tulips, where we picked fresh flowers. They are located outside of Harrah, Oklahoma and have many colors and varieties of tulips. On an earlier homeschool (roadschool) adventure, you saw us tour a crawfish farm. Now join us on another crawfish learning adventure. We went on a crawfish excursion at Crawfish Haven, also known as Mrs. Rose’s Bed & Breakfast in Kaplan, Louisiana. Operated by Mr. Barry Toups, this is a place where you can catch crawfish, cook crawfish and sleep. Mr. Toups has 50 acres of dedicated crawfish farms and offers excursions for visitors to catch crawfish and learn about crawfish farming. There is also a dining pavilion, a gazebo, a fishing pond with bass and bream, cooking classes, bed and breakfast rooms, and even camp sites. After we caught crawfish, we relaxed on the grounds and then enjoyed a crawfish boil. The area is also home to many other attractions and hunting and fishing opportunities.
