How to Determine Whether a Number is a Solution to an Equation | Minute Math
In this video we cover how to determine whether a number is a solution to an equation. The steps are as follows...
1. Substitute the number for the variable in the equation. 2. Simplify the expressions on both sides of the equation. 3. Determine whether the resulting equation is true. 3a. If it is true, the number is a solution. 3b. If it is not true, the number is not a solution.
In this video we are given a triangle with three squares inside of it. The area of two of the squares are 25 units squared and 9 units squared. Can you find the area of the the third square that is big and pink? You can use a basic understanding of geometry to solve this problem.

How do you use the definition of the derivative? Use the definition of the derivative to find the derivative of y=4x^2+1 with respect to x. What is the derivative of y=4x^2+1? We learn how to find the derivative of y=4x^2+1 using the definition of the derivative. We will use limits to find the derivative of a function with respect to x with the definition of the derivative. This is a great introduction into derivatives. This is under the topic of Differentiation with this free online math video lesson. #derivatives #definitionofthederivative #findthederivative #calculus #calculushelp #minutemath #onlinemathlessons

Rolle’s Theorem. Find the values of c that satisfy Rolle’s Theorem of y=-2sin(2x) [-pi, pi]. We learn how to determine if Rolle’s Theorem can be applied to y=-2sin(2x) [-pi, pi]. If it can, we find all values of c that satisfy the theorem. If it cannot, we explain why not. We learn how to apply Rolle’s Theorem to a function. We first determine if Rolle’s Theorem can be applied. If it can not be applied, we state why. If Rolle’s Theorem can be applied, we first take the derivative of the function. We then set the derivative equal to zero and solve for x. Once we get these values we determine which ones are within our bounds of the problem. These values are the values of c that satisfy Rolle’s Theorem. This is a great introduction into Rolle’s Theorem. This is under the topic of Applications of Differentiation with this free online math video lesson. #RollesTheorem #findthevalueofc #ApplyRollesTheorem #derivatives #Theorem #calculus #calculushelp #minutemath #minutemathhelp #onlinemathlessons

Continuity. When is f(x)={x^2-4x+3 when x≠0; 3 when x=0 continuous? We learn how to find the intervals on which f(x)={x^2-4x+3 when x≠0; 3 when x=0 is continuous. We will also classify the type of discontinuity when needed. The type of classifications for the function can be Continuous, has an Essential discontinuity, or a Removable Discontinuity. This is a great introduction into determining and classifying continuity. This is under the topic of Continuity with this free online math video lesson. #continuity #discontinuity #essentialdiscontinuity #removablediscontinuity #calculus #calculushelp #minutemath #onlinemathlessons
