The Story Behind THIS Song:
I was actually living in it on an air mattress in the recording studio. I was currently in between wives. ;-) Heart broken but destined to make an album. It could've been called my 5th Married Album, but I took the name DRIVE for the CD/Album.
I was sitting in the studio one day, and folks would show up. Some to hang out and record. Some were friends or lovers of folks interested in recording.
This day- I had my keys out I had the chord progression and the melody kinda. I knew I wanted to write a Ray Charles-type song....I had- he 2nd verse, first:
Drinking me a double shot of Bourbon
To ease off the pain from all of this hurting
But it don't seem to be working
At least not today
I was at that time a drunk performer. Or as close to that as I could get. But always a double shot of top shelf Bourbon. My mouth watered, just typing this. I currently don't drink. Thank goodness. ;-))
On this day, I had many visitors in the room and each I give credit for this beautiful song. Mary Giglio, Matt Burhartt, Emily Pate and myself
I asked, "what do "they" say about love?
I a lot of input while going through the song.
When I got to the chorus-
"......Falling in LOVE was easy but falling out .......
Emily Pate piped in- "It Ain't Cool"
I was expecting the contrast. Easy/Hard. But when she said "it ain't cool!"
