This is different than the usual.
Mom is 95, and has been living on her own for many years. Last year, she decided to retire and her health has been declining enough that she really can't do all of the things that she used to be able to do.
I try to go up to visit and fix things and perform maintenance to allow her to keep living in her own home for as long as possible, but we both know her time is coming to an end, and we're preparing for the inevitable.
It's an emotional journey for me. I think it's a story I need to tell.

Cooking experiment.
I wanted to try vacuum-brining chicken. The idea was to pull fluids and air out of the chicken thighs while they were immersed in brine, then when the pressure was restored, the brining fluid would be sucked back into the chicken.
