First impressions arriving at our lot in Fruit Haven Ecovillage ( sister community to Terra Fruitis). Showing the young permaculture fruit forest. equipped with mountain stream spring waterline, and water catcent system.
Our friend Zeina, stayed on our lot a few weeks before we arrived in Ecuador. She left us a ton of goodies and started planting a vegetable garden ??.
We rind a sirprise in our Mattress! A mama mouse has made her nest there. We relocate them to a little mouse house Nik makes outside.
Then Peter comes by @Peter Csere co-founder of Fruit Haven
He gives us a property tour and a Fruit Tree Permaculture 101 intro. Sharing a bunch of tips and tricks to optimizing your land with agroforestry and permaculture techniques. We discover fruit trees like : Ice cream bean, Rollinia, pedalai, mangosteen, Sapodilla, jackfruit, meringue and more!
Tofu the dog instantly feels at home, while the cats Tempeh and Mr.Grey are still getting used to this big change.
This is how we uprooted our lives and moved to a sustainable community in south east Ecuador.

? Feeling the heat in Playas, Ecuador. We arrived by plane from Montreal, Canada to Guayaquil, Ecuador, and from there took a 1.5h cab ride to the coast arriving in Playas, Ecuador. It’s so nice being right by the beach at our awesome Airbnb so we decided to stay here a while before we go east bound and down.

Leaving our little slice of heaven in Playas and heading east bound and down to Cuenca. We feared for our lives with the crazy cab driver that drove is from Guayaquil to Cuenca ( not Leo, he was awesome, he took us from Playas to Guayaquil ) this other guy who was speeding and switching lanes into oncoming traffic all the way through the mountains. Felt like a roller coaster. Our plans kept changing but finally we made it to Cuenca and checked into our new airbnb ??
