In this video, I explain what weaponisation is in the world of hacking. It is the second part of a cyberattack (after recon/info gathering) where the hacker will decide on where to place malicious code. A common technique is to combine the code with a payload such as a PDF or Microsoft document commonly used in phishing attacks. A macro attack is a form of weaponisation, and I will go over a few more points that I probably missed in my other video on that topic. This video follows on from the one I did about obfuscation which is a technique that is used with weaponisation to hide the threat.

This video will show you how to use CCleaner. I mainly use it to clear temporary files from browser activity. You can use it to clean your registry but I recommend that you are an advanced PC user or seek advice first. There is a paid version, in the video I said it was a monthly subscription but it may be a one off price. I'm not sure on this because I have never bought the professional version.
CCleaner is an excellent tool to clear your system of clutter, speed up the device and free up space ready for the backup process.

I take a look at a report on a sample of Cyborg ransomware. My voice went a bit croaky in parts of the video (too much coffee!) so apologies for that. Cyborg is not the most dangerous threat in 2022 but it is one of the most common. The ransomware has been made available on the repository Github and a lot of amateurish, low-level hackers are getting their hands on it.

This video goes through guidelines set by OPSEC, operational security. This video is based on a security guide by 'The Grugq'. The Grugq is a South African security researcher who created a guide known as the 'Ten Hack Commandments'. This guide in itself is kind of a tongue in cheek take on Biggie Smalls' (The Notorious B.I.G.) song 'Ten Commandments'. OPSEC is used heavily by the military to guard and protect military intelligence, hence the chosen thumbnail image.

The malware sample report of HermeticWiper I looked at in a previous video included a bootkit as part of the attack technique. In this video, I will discuss what a bootkit is, how it attacks a machine, its capabilities and what it could be used for. Some security researchers say that the use of bootkits by hackers is in decline but I don't think they are about to go away any time soon. In the old days, bootkits used to be delivered by physically inserting a floppy disk into a machine. But now hackers are using all kinds of methods of distribution.

This video is a discussion on an old exploit of a vulnerability in the Samba server message block. This is the first of exploit videos I intend to talk about on the channel. The demonstration of the exploit using hacking applications like Metasploit and Netcat will be shown on Patreon to avoid a strike on the channel. See below for a link to our Patreon page.
Samba SMB is the application used by Linux machines so that they can communicate with Windows machines on the same network. This is so printer sharing and file sharing can happen between devices with different operating systems.
The exploit takes advantage of a vulnerability in the login to the Samba system. Hackers would enter meta characters in the username entry to gain access. They would then use a username mapping script, if access through a directory is possible, to launch a reverse shell connection. The script changes the configuration of Samba SMB so that the execution of commands from a shell is possible.
